I go to Kathmandu every year and always stay at the yellowhouse. Great value for a room and breakfast. Everyone is very kind and helpful. The area is very safe you can walk to many restaurants and tourists locations within 20 min. If you want to go to the main tourist location go to Thamel, however, why travel when just surrounded by people you would see in your city? Approx 600-800 rup cab to airport, 200-400 rup to any tourist attraction in the city (including Thamel)!
