On our trip throughout Namibia, we decided to spend 3 nights in Swakopmund over Christmas. What a great place to stay, and we were also glad we stayed at Orange House. 

The lodge is ideally situated just off the main road, but still with absolute ease to the promenade. While there, we managed a walk alone the promenade every day, and I also still had the pleasure of a 5km run along the promenade. Furthermore, it’s only a 2,5km walk to the new shopping center, and less than 2km to the town centre and current hub of Swakop.

The rooms are clean, spacious and sufficient for a few nights stay. The breakfast is sufficient to get you on your way, and Sandra (the owner) is always within a phone call or few minutes away to  assist with whatever you require.

The WiFi in the common lounge was ideal, and the lounge comfortable enough to sit and connect.

All in all, a great stay, and we’ll be back again.

Stayed one night on business. Lovely place. Fall asleep to the sounds of crashing waves. Rooms are spacious and clean and the bed perfect. In the morning had an early breakfast and was on our way quickly. Beach across the street and besides the waves it was completely silent. Would stay here again! 

Stayed 4 nights, walked-in, cheaper than booking.com. Felt safe at night, no noise from streetscar or the sea. Amazing big breakfast. Be there at 6.30h because the breakfast buffay at 8.30h is almost empty. Big and spacious clean room. Wifi is terrible but it's Africa.

We stayed in B&B Orange House during our tour of Namibia. Very nice, clean place with  nice garden, 2 minutes from the beach. You can sit outside (small tables are provided for each room). Just another nice place, with good breakfast, neat common room with TV. And then one of us left behind his passport - Sandra (owner) did more then regular service, she used all resources (including charter plane) to make sure that we didn't have to change our travel plans and the passport was delivered to us. that's what make this place special - SERVICE.

Swakop tends to be fully booked much of the time so you may not get your first choice.  If you don't, then give this B&B a try.  It's a short walk from the centre of town and several of the best restaurants.  It's in a quiet suburban part of the town very close to the ocean.  It's new and clean and colourful.  What it's not is partucularly welcoming.  The breakfast is at best average and there is little or no "service" at all.  But the room we had was quite big and light and well-appointed and the bathroom was huge.  If all you want is a clean bed in a clean room in a good location this will do fine.  If you want to be "looked after" then look elsewhere.

A sensible place to stay rather than a memorable one

As a tour guide working in Namibia, I've been to most of the hotels, guesthouses and lodges in the country and this one is definitly the worst one I've ever been to.
First of all the place look like an hospital and smell like one to, then it's got more security doors than a prison which make you feel more unconfortable than anything else. The rooms are way too big which could be a quality if they had a proper heater inside. On the contrary you'll find the smallest heater possible in it and as it is nearly always cold on the coast you'll be freezing in your room. 
But the worst of all it is that during my stay there I had a nap in the afternoon and suddently i was waken up by people shouting in the corridor in front of the rooms, so loud i decided to go outside to see what it was. It appeared it was the owner of the place shouting like hell at one of her employees. Whatever the reason was it is totally unacceptable. 
Last but not least i realized i forgot something in the room , I called just one hour after leaving the place to tell them exactly where it was and it had magically disappeared. Definitely terrible!!!!!

Simplement la pire guesthouse sur la côte, passez votre chemin, ça ressemble plus à un hôpital ou une prison qu'à un hébergement de vacance. Surement dû aux nombreuses portes à verrouiller derrière soi (imposé par les proprios) et au sourire du propriétaire comparable à celui d'un gardien de prison. Propriétaire qui d'ailleurs gueule sur ces employés dans les couloirs devant les chambres, à tel point que ça m'a réveillé, totalement inacceptable.

Il peggiore posto della costa. Sembra un ospedale, molto freddo nelle camere, sentimento di essere in una prigione. Tanti megliori posti che questo.
