Camp Kipwe

We stayed at Camp Kipwe for 3 nights.  The lodge is absolutely stunning!  Everything - from the location, the views, the service, the food, the friendly staff, attention to detail - all things were top notch.  We would highly recommend this place to our friends and family.

A truly brilliant hotel in a stunning setting, with delicious food and exemplary staff. Special mention to Randolph, Immanuel and Janelka who went out of their way to look after us. Highly recommended especially the desert elephant trip.

This was the second time I stayed at Camp Kipwe.  I was there five years ago and so enjoyed the camp that I asked my travel agent to book us there again.  It's in a pretty remote location, but so worth the effort to get there.  The design is just amazing - it reminds me of Bedrock Village from the old Flintstones comic show.  The rooms and buildings blend into the rocks so well they almost disappear.  Our room was a bit of a walk from the main area, but we didn't mind after spending so much time sitting in a vehicle.  The view from our room was lovely, as it is from everywhere in the camp.  Our room was very large, clean, and quite comfortable.  There was plenty of space to relax and stow our bags and gear.  The refrigerator worked well and kept our water nice and cold.  The beds were comfortable with good mattresses.  The bathroom was outside the main room, but attached so no need to walk anywhere.  The outdoor shower felt wonderful after a day outside.  We even had a gecko on the wall to take care of all the bugs which was great.  The sundowner spot is up a hill which might be a bit challenging for some people, but there are stairs to make it easier.  The view from up top is spectacular and well worth the walk.  You can enjoy a cool drink and some snacks as the sun sets.  The food was plentiful and very good.  I don't eat red meat or pork and had lots of options.  The service was attentive, friendly, and professional.  A wonderful stay from beginning to end.

Stayed in the Kipwe Suite for 2 nights and wish it could have been longer. I have not seen it documented but the lodge has added a lounge area and plunge pool on our deck, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Camp Kipwe is a beautiful lodge with wonderful staff and excellent food. Special thanks to Katandi, who is a wonderful young man who provided great service and conversation. I also very much appreciated that the chef made me special entrees at dinner to accommodate my vegetarian requests. Easily our favorite lodge on our 14-day trip!

Stayed for one night as part of a road trip. Simply a wonderful place - everything is top notch: the design and architecture of the build, the interiors, the exemplary service, the food, the vistas.... it's all so relaxing and energising at the same time. Sunset on the rooftop bar, dining by the fire, the very comfortable rooms - I cannot recommend it highly enough. Extra thanks to the wonder staff - excellent levels of personalised service. And the morning elephant drive was magnificent. Loved it all :)

Absolutely fantastic. As seasoned travellers and lodge stayers in Africa over the years (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa) , this is one of the best lodges we have ever stayed in. It starts with the wonderful room  with the very special outdoor bathroom. Totally private but with the desert sky as your ceiling. 

We did two great tours with Ziggy - one  geology one and trailing one elephants. He was knowledgeable and entertaining - a great mix. 

Overall a very high level of service by all the staff. Well done everyone! And obviously well trained. 

Climb up the stairs to their sundowner bar with a great view far and wide. 

Food was excellent. Even their hot food sandwiches for breakfast brought something new and elevated to the experience.

And if they could not top this, unrequested they even washed our car on the day of departure.

We stayed here for two nights during a Namibia Road Trip. The hotel was recommended by our travel consultant.
Camp Kipwe is located in a rocky outcrop, with the rooms nestled into the rocks. We had a standard room which was more than adequate for our needs. It was made better by the fact that we were the furthest from the main part of the lodge so it was exceptionally quiet and had lovely views from the porch. It was lovely to sit and read outside our room and watch the 'small' wildlife - geckos, lizards, birds etc.
Marius, front of house, was really helpful, and all the staff were both discreet and attentive to our needs.
We dined at the lodge and the chef produced lovely vegetarian meals for us. Service was efficient, and again, the word discreet comes to mind. The local attractions, other than organised elephant viewing, are really restricted to the local rock art site, so we used this location as our 'chill out' days. And Camp Kipwe was perfect for this. 
We would certainly recommend this accommodation and are so pleased our travel consultant suggested it for us.

Spectacular to wake up every morning in this paradise. The evening viewpoint is a huge plus and meant a magical start to every evening. In the morning, with Ziggy at our side, we were well prepared to explore the world of the elephants. 

Overall: extraordinary.

We stayed for just one night and wished it had been longer.  We arrived, dusty, sweaty and hot after a long drive and sightseeing at the petrified forest and rock carvings sites and were greeted with ice cold towels and a cold drink. We were made very welcome and shown around the amazing site (pictures do not do it justice) while our baggage was taken to our room. We loved our room, private sitting area and bathroom which was fully private but under the open sky. A drink at the bar at the top of the rocks while watching the stunning sunset was followed by one of the best dinners and wine that we have had on our holiday in Namibia. On the following morning we had a very good  early breakfast before our knowledgeable and cheerful guide took us to see desert adapted elephants, with giraffe and springbok as well as stunning views as a bonus.  Camp Kipwe were most obliging about keeping our cases until we returned from our game drive and carried them to our car. Camp Kipwe is a wonderful place!

A really unique place to stay

Remote lodge that is well worth the effort to get there.

Special stay - get it on your list!

Everything was good to our taste: location, arrangement of the property, service and food.
The dinner was served in "gourmand" style - small but very tasty portions. Wines selection was OK for the remote lodge, and the price was acceptable.
The drive with the guide to see prehistoric engravings was very informative and well-presented.

Closest to paradise I have ever been!

Friendly and very comfortable

We've stayed at many luxury lodges on our travels and Camp Kipwe rates as one of our favourites of all time. From the amazing architecture (everything is built into and around the boulders) to the sensational staff (the Kipwe celebrities: Philip, KK, George, et al) there is little to fault about Kipwe. The food was fantastic, the wine even better. The sunset bar right at the top of the boulders is just breathtaking. We stayed 3 nights and think that was perfect. Next time we visit, we will most definitely be staying at the villa - utter luxury in the heart of the desert. Mareille and her husband are wonderful managers who ensured their lodge ran like clockwork. We can't wait to get back - family and friends in tow! 

Exceptional across the board!

Wow, this place is hard to describe in words. Even pictures won't pass the amazing experience this place offers.
The architectural plan that fits perfectly its surroundings, the beautifully decorated interior spaces, the great food, friendly and helpful staff and above all -  the unique and amazing location and view - all make it one of the best places we ever visited. The close by Bushman engravings are impressive and we so some wildlife near by, including elephants, giraffes and others, but the main attraction for us was the camp itself!
