Ndhovu Safari Lodge - Campground

This lodge is a beautiful place to relax and to do game drives from, into Buffalo and Mahango. It has a stunning deck from which to observe wildlife across the Kavango river, or to enjoy the local hippos almost at your feet, in the water.
The lodging is in lovely modern tents and attached and enclosed bathrooms.
The food is exceptional 

Fantastic view over the Okavango River, very comfortable accommodation, recently renovated, great hospitality, excellent food prepared and presented by the chef, and a pool which especially kids will enjoy to refresh after an exciting day. I would not recommend to go with a standard/low clearance vehicle.

Our glam tent accommodation with terrific bathroom was a treat. My daughter had a tummy bug and Ralph the owner 
quickly got us to our room and she was in bed soon after arrival. Our river safaris here were wonderful with an abundance of wildlife. Lots of splashing in the river overnight so I suspect the hippos were coming ashore. I wasn’t getting out of bed to check!  The deck over the river was a great place to relax.

We have stayed two nights last Juli and enjoyed every minut of it. The boattrip with excellent guide, the wonderful diner and beautiful location. Tents and beds were excellent. If you want to see hippo's you are in the right spot. The National Park is just a 15 minute drive away

My brother and I travelled through Namibia on holiday, and were fortunate enough to have stayed here for a night. The quaint little place was located right on the banks of the Okavango River, and had accommodations consisting of clean, comfortable tents each with their own bathroom and shower. The place gave the feel of being out in the wilderness without the mosquitos - The food and conversation was fantastic (family style meals), the hosts were very welcoming and we truly wish we had several more days to spend here. "Chomp" the local hippo walks around camp at night. The local village walk is a must do - absolute highlight of our time in Africa. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back!

A room with a view

Great place to stay

Fantastic time in Namibia!

At our arrival we were greeted by the manager of the camp. He explained the basics of the camp; time of meals and that there was a sundowner boat ride at 16;00. 
Our tent seemed a DYI piece of work and was in very urgent need of an update.The main areas and the terrace overlooking the river are nice. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The cook there is simply great; dinners are fab.
Although we saw a safari vehicle parked on the grounds the manager informed us he had no guides to do game drives. I heard from other guests they had also asked for game dives also with a negative response. We've stayed at several lodges in Namibia and surrounding countries and this was the first lodge that did not bother to organise game drives. It couldn't have been too difficult to find an available guide (it was not yet high season so it would have taken only a few phone calls ... apparently that was too much of a hassle).
The restaurant is an open area and gets pretty cold in May/June> However if you have two fire places ... one might make a little effort and get the fire going .... Again probably too much trouble? During an the evening I asked about bush babies/warm water bottles. The lady/manager had apparently never heard this this is a widely spread practice in several lodges in Southern Africa in winter time. 
Overall this lodge has potential but needs managers who understand what hospitality is.

Poor management and needs a revamp

The location of this lodge is great, we enjoyed it very much. Dinner and breakfast was also good. The only problem was: when we arrived there was nobody at the reception. After looking around we asked a workmaiden. Her English was not good enough to explain things. She showed us our tent, but couldn't say anything about the lodge or its usuals (like dinner and breakfast time) and she knew nothing about our villagewalk we should have later on that noon. Later on in the noon still nobody at the reception who could help us; some English guests could answer some questions. I had to go to the kitchen to ask about the villagewalk. Later on, when I went again to the reception to find somebody (but still there was nobody) I met accidentally a boy who asked me about the villagewalk. He said we could go with him to his village, but we had to hurry because after an hour he had to be back for the boatcruise. So we got an already paid very quick village"walk": we went by car to the village, saw a few huts and went back. When we came back, we met the owner (about a whole minute). He said his name (Horst) and told us to pay the next morning before 08.30 am, because after that he was gone for a gamedrive with a group of clients. He was actually the only one who could manage the reception.... And in our case there were guests who brought more money and were more important to him. The next morning he was very grumpy, because we were too late in his opinion and the other guests were already waiting for the gamedrive. By the way, the English couple told us that they could not do a gamedrive, because the owner had no time for them, because he was with the other group. 
I'm still waiting for excuses from the owner, who showed very bad hospitality.
