I fell in love with this place.  So much character.   Lovely, spacious rooms, beautiful communal areas/bar .... everything was perfect.  The highlight was dining outside on the terrace by the pool under the Namibian stars with giraffes, oryxes and other wildlife drinking from the waterhole very close by.   It just blew me away.  We did the sundowner game drive and saw meercats (mother and baby), bat eared fox, giraffes, oryxes, ostriches and many other birds and animals, and then had cocktails/drinks in the most beautiful location.  The sand is so red!!! I loved it!!!

This was a beautiful lodge to stay at. The rooms are huge and so clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The game drive through the reserve of an afternoon was fabulous, and stopping for sundowners was stunning! The food was very good and very tasty. The bar area around the fire was lovely! We loved our stay here.

On our first two nights in Namibia we stayed in the dune suite furthest away from the main
building. It was very spacious, comfortable and very peaceful and private with a lovely view of the bush from the terrace. The air conditioning was adequate without being able to make the large space very cool (although the weather was very hot even by local standards when we visited). We slept comfortably. We were met outside our door by a couple of eland both mornings which was a nice surprise.

The main lodge is comfortable and well furnished with a nice pool and good food. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a watering hole within sight which is visited by springbok and eland.

On the sundowner drive we saw zebra giraffe, kudu, springbok and ostrich but not the lion, unfortunately. I would recommend it.

A lovely place to stay in the Kalahari.


Beautiful lodge, great location. There had been large amounts of rain in the early part of this year. This gave us the unexpected pleasure of seeing a " green" Kalahari desert. The views of the dunes that weren't covered in grass were spectacular. 

Stayed for one night and this is the only disadvantage - should stay more next time. Lodge is located within private nature reserve, so you can see a lot of animals on the game drive. The staff was very friendly, definitely would come back again.

Definitely worth every cent. The bar is not expensive, which was surprising for a lodge. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they treat every guest as family. The  best experience was the fact that game is so relaxed, they walk up to the rooms. 

I visited the Kalahari and decided to stay at Camelthorn lodge, then was upgraded at Zebra lodge with no additional cost. The lodge is impressive, so beautiful and the pool is divine !
The meals are delicious and the service exceptional. Thank You to the entire team and owners !
The sandy road to acces the lodges needs to be taken with precaution, don't stop to take a picture if You do not have a 4x4.
I will definitly come back in couple !
It is so romantic.

The Lodge ist very nice and comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and have an in- and outdoor shower (if you fancy that).
The dinner was very nice too. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downside was that it was relatively hot in the room even with the AC on.
As the hotel is located in a Game Reserve I'd really recommend the Sundowner Game drive which is absolutely awesome!

We only spent one night at the Zebra Kalahari Lodge but wished it were more! We had a heartwarming welcome, enjoyed a lovely lunch and afternoon at the pool with a view onto the waterhole where all kinds of animals - antilopes, zebras, ostriches - gathered. The lodge is positioned in the middle of the Namibian Kalahari Desert with its vibrant red sand. Our room (one of the chalets) was very spacious and comfortable with lovely interior design.  
We took part in the sundowner drive where we saw a lot of game and enjoyed a typical African sunset with drinks and snacks. This was followed by excellent dinner under the southern night sky. The San Bushmen walk was very informative too. 
All in all a great experience, good activities, perfect location and great food.

The Zebra Lodge is quite terrific.  The staff couldn’t be friendlier or more attentive.  We had room #7 and it was spacious, well furnished, and accommodating.  The outdoor shower was a nice plus.  They have a waterhole for wildlife just outside of the restaurant and hotel rooms, and there were always a few animals eating straw bundles and drinking water.  

The bushman’s walk in the morning was wonderful.  The young men spoke in their traditional language which interpreted by the guide.  They were quite interesting and funny.  We highly recommend, and suggest a 10 rand tip for each bushman. 

The evening game drive was informative and well directed by Bearfid.  The drive concluded at sunset with cocktails. 

The restaurant was excellent.  Breakfast was a fine buffet but the cooks were willing to accommodate special requests.  Dinner was “white table cloth” with a few options.  Springbok was, surprisingly, very good.  We had a massage before dinner in an attractive spa set up for couples.  

On the downside, there isn’t anything to do outside of the hotel, other than the activities we mentioned in this review.  We stayed two nights but would suggest only one, unless you are looking for a place to simply sit and relax.
