NWR Hardap Resort

We landed up at Hardap by accident.  We arrived after 17h00, and they had a beautiful family chalet available.  Two bedroom, one bathroom (separate toilet) and kitchenette (microwave, fridge and coffee station, no kitchen stuff, except for coffee).  Small veranda with an outside BBQ.  Very neat, newly refurbished - beautiful!  Had a playground near the chalet

Made it to the restaurant before the sun set over the dam; what a spectacular view!  Small menu, delicious food.  Not everything was available though.

Staff was very friendly and helpful; we enjoyed it so much we stayed a second night...

My husband and I stayed at the Hardap Resort . We originally were only going to stay for 1 night but really enjoyed our stay so decided on another night. 
We stayed in the VIP chalet which we found to be very clean with great quality bedding!The chalet has air conditioning in both kitchen/lounge area plus in the bedrooms which were most welcome.
The views of the dam are spectacular especially at sunset and sunrise. 
Management and staff very friendly and helpful.
Would highly recommend. 

We came for a day visit as I wanted to see the pelicans and water birds, and I wasn't disappointed! The lady at the gate was friendly and process was smooth for day visitors. We were a bit confused about where to go for the game drive so stopped at the restaurant and talked to the conservation manager who was really helpful. He also told us that the dam levels were worryingly low for the time of year, and sadly, they think there will be a water disaster this year...we saw what he meant as we drove round and were even able to park on the dam bed where there should have been water. We went on a game drive on the Fish Route and my husband got to really test our Hilux and 4x4 driving skills, which he loved (me not so much)! We got to see flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, whistling ducks, storks, and herons - including a black heron, which was a lifer for us. We also saw mountain kebra, kudo, steenbok, springbok, oryx and ostrich. But they were very skittish - I don't think they see many cars/people here that often. The baboons watched us from the rocks as we walked around the water, and we also saw some rock hyrax around the accommodation area. We had lunch at the restuarant and the views were stunning. Service was great and our food was delicious - the greek salad was fresh and tasty.

After the good rainfall and hearing about the floodgates opening, we took a chance on Hardap Resort.
Booked a VIP chalet for 4 adults (Number 5 is the best ;-) and had the most amazing views from our balcony. Chalet was clean; air conditioning in every room, good quality king size beds and great shower. DSTV had a weak signal unfortunately. Some cutlery missing, but they were replaced after we requested. I would not classify it as a self catering, as there is no stove or pots/pans. But they do offer a coffee bar. Breakfast at the restaurant was standard, nothing special.
But seeing the Hardap Dam at full capacity and in all its glory, definitely made this trip worthwhile.

Accommodation was clean and had everything we needed.Restaurant was excellent with a good choice of food both in the evening and for breakfast. The rock hydrax are very friendly and there are lots of them..........very entertaining to watch. Did a game drive by ourselves the next morning and saw springbok, gudu and oryx.

I visited the Hardap Camp (NWR) last month it was a pleasure to meet my old friends that I haven't seen in a long time. It was not just a great reunion but also a very southing place with most comfortable bedrooms I could think of in the centeral southern Namibia. Mr. Sunday Nelenge quite a giant in terms of hosting. What a great team you have put together Sunday. Keep shining 💪🔥🌞

Breather

The resort is beautiful and the family chalets are very spacious. Need to focus on the maintenance of the place. Our sliding door was not closing and that was not sorted until we left. We stayed there for 3 days. They also need to concentrate on cleaning your chalet properly while you are still checked in. They only cleaned bathrooms. Towels left on the floor because they are dirty, were also not removed and replaced.

Independence breakaway

Neat Facilities, Friendly check in and cleaning staff. We booked Buffet Dinner for N$330.00 per person excluding drinks (we were 11 people!) instead of a la carte so that everybody could eat as much as they want, just to be stopped when we went for seconds! Breakfast no better N$190.00 pp buffet the lady at the buffet was watching us with hawk eyes even accusing me of ordering more than 2 eggs when i did not order any eggs yet. Total disaster! We ate at the River chalets in Mariental 20 km from the resort for the remainder of our stay for less than half the price of Hardap and the food was 100 times better!

Restaurant disaster!

We slept there on the way of the Fisher Canyon but haven't been seduce by the place. The lake and the surrounded are nice but be careful of the leeches if you're going to swim ! Electricity was not working anywhere in the campsite (and we tried maybe 8 differents emplacements) and there was a full family of cockroacks in the bathroom which was really dirty. The campsites don't have a good view and the wind is really powerful on the top of the hill where there are located so your night will be movemented.

Bad campsite

Stayed for two nights in the family chalets. Standards have dropped first day rooms not cleaned and so much confusion during breakfast we were only offered the continental breakfast which we had not booked for and were not notified when we made reservations. Swimming pool area insufficient shade could only go for a swim after 6 pm. Really needs a huge improvement on service delivery. Very beautiful place with a recent uplift but not well maintained
