Little Yangon Hostel

Me and my family had one of the best times in Lotte Yangon over the long weekend.we enjoyed exceptional services and delicious foods. We were Welcomed by a smiling staff starting from reception as we checked in until we left afterwards.

The location of the hostel was great. Quite close to some good restaurants and street vendors. There was a great atmosphere in the hostel. Every night, guests would gather at the benches outside the hostel and sing, play music, chat, and laugh.

Wow, the service here blew me away. I stayed here twice while in Myanmar. The first time, to be honest, checking in was difficult. We arrived in the middle of the night and had to contact a friend to let us in as the front desk was absent for at least the 15 minutes where we arrived. The shared room also had a funky smell but anyway, it was nothing serious. All in all, the place was good. Excellent location too. The staff was super friendly. They make this place worth a visit for sure. 

First, they helped my friends and I book a bus to a beach town 5-6 hours away. Then, when we were mistaken about the pick-up location, they called the bus company, asked them to wait for us and then called us a cab to get to the bus. We caught the bus (30 mins late but it was still waiting). 

Then, the second time I came to this hostel was on a 12 hour layover in Yangon before flying out. I asked if I could drop my luggage off near the front desk and then use a shower later. I offered to pay but they said it was complimentary. Then they also helped call me a cab to get to the airport. Great service.

The hotel is located at the city center which is very convenient if you wish to check out Yangon city. It was new year eve during my stay, staff organized a count down party for us to celebrate and get to know other backpackers. Staffs are so hopitable to prepare all the food and games for us. People who stay there are all over the world and they are very welcoming. Rooms are clean, tidy. The bed is spacious enough. I’ll recommend this hotel if you wish to stay somewhere comfy and economic.

The location is quite good, walking distance to sule pagoda and chinatown, as well as railway station. There is a 24 hours convenient store just at the corner of the lane, to can get most of the things you want at night at a reasonable price!

It was great! The staff was very friendly and helpful :) Great location as well, right in the middle of downtown. The Mahabandoola garden was just a short walk away!

All staffs are very friendly and good. and the location is very convenient.

It was nice stay at the hostel, however the toilets could've been cleaner...

Pros 
- The beds are clean and comfy with individual plugs, light and privacy curtain

- Good location. Less than 5mins to the closest CityMart and then there are many good restaurants nearby.

- Staff are happy to print evisas if you need to

- Breakfast was free...(but see below)

- Some trips available to book from the hostel

- There are lockers to put your things in but you need to provide your own lock (which is safer anyway). Lockers are big enough to put a large rucksack (65L plus) as well as day bag etc.

- Lots of travellers and good vibes.

Cons
- If you get to choose your dorm, don't pick Chindwin if you don't like the smell of smoke. Staff smoke on that corridor all the time (as well as on the balcony outside that dorm) and all the smoke goes into the dorm. We asked the staff to move outside and they moved on to the balcony but they're are permanent window gaps that don't close so the smell and smoke still comes in :-( 

- The luggage room gets hella packed. Do NOT put anything fragile in there... New bags just get chucked in carelessly and when luggage owners return, bags are thrown around etc to retrieve the first bags. 

- If you are leaving Myanmar soon and every Kyat counts, you don't need to leave 10,000kyat as deposit, just say you only have 5,000kyat left and they will accept that. They flicked through the deposit book when we checked out and as they keep the original note with each person's booking sheet, we saw that most people has only paid 5,000kyat for one key, not 10,000kyat.

- Breakfast was a different kind of noodles each day which were very cold! Then, toast with jams, cucumbers, tomatoes and cubed watermelon. Everything was buffet style. There was also hot tea/coffee available. At peak times there are not enough tables and chairs for everyone so people start sitting on the floor...which is not the cleanest 

- The showers are OK. They have hot water which is good but they are not the cleanest.

- Some of the toilets have really strange gaps at the bottom of them...which means privacy is lacking. See photo.

- Staff come in as soon as a person leaves...even at 6am staff started changing the bedsheets of someone that had left! (But even with this they don't allow early check in!!) 

- People in our dorm were having full conversations at 5am and one guy was on his phone at 6am -staff were present for both events but did nothing to maintain the "quiet hours" that they supposedly impose.



First the staff always greets you with a smile and is very helpful in organizing your transportation. The breakfast is tasty: toast & jam with a local noodle soup. The common area can get a little cramped because the wifi is best there. In the rooms the wifi barely works. The rooms have good AC. I'll stay at LYH again.
