Royal Star Guest House

It is a budget accommodation, with separate common bathroom and very good value for money if you are looking for private rooms instead of a hostel. I had booked two nights at the guest house. The location is in a quiet street close to Sule pagoda, so was quite easy to reach from the airport. The landlady is very friendly and helpful and the main reason for my satisfaction with this place. I had booked a budget single, but as soon as I arrived, the landlady upgraded me to a double bed. She was extremely helpful in planning my very short visit to the city. Had the traditional Mohingya on the first day at breakfast, which got me completely hooked to this Burmese national dish. Was a bit disappointed to be offered toast on the next morning, but breakfast was substantial. The access to the guesthouse is through a long and steep staircase, so if you are carrying luggage, this is something to be aware of.
