The beautiful place in an amazing, remote location. Self catering accommodation, no shops or restaurants in vicinity. Only nature. Wifi was available. The comfortable room, bed with a mosquito net, a big bathroom (but no hairdryer). The view of the ocean from the balcony was amazing. The beautiful beach is about 10 minutes walk down the hill, but there is a swimming pool

The communication regarding the transfer to the apartment was excellent, and the manager was very responsive. The location is beautiful - amazing view of the ocean, close to the beach, nice swimming pool. The apartment was also very clean and the appliances and general amenities were nice. The structure could use some maintenance (window could not shut because wood was swollen, counters cracked...). But with some general maintenance would be very nice.

The buildings at the Golden Sands were lovely with two separate condos in front of the property, each with a lower level walkout and an upper level. Each condo has two bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two twins) and attached ensuites as well as a large, open concept family room and kitchen with all basic appliances. On the upper level we also had a huge balcony with sliding French doors that opened up to a view of the ocean and 3 islands of Bazaruto National Park. There was a large dining table and adirondack chairs to relax in while enjoying the view. The beds were really comfy and equipped with a large mosquito net for easy sleeping. The decor was also lovely and there was a lot of storage space to unpack and make yourself at home. Unfortunately, it seems that maintenance is not kept up well or maybe less so in the winter when it is not so busy, as one of the buildings had very limited water and we did not have hot water until the second day when our guide made a call to the owner. Both bedrooms had an A/C unit attached, but it was also not working throughout the duration of our stay. Towels, bedding, glassware and cutlery were all provided, but you will need your own toiletries. 

Overall, it was a lovely spot - very peaceful, but a bit of a distance from town/groceries/restaurants, something to note if you do not have a car. I would recommend it if you're looking for a quiet escape, and wanting to cook your own meals, but just be sure that everything is working well before the staff leave. A great spot to stay while exploring Bazaruto National Park, we would certainly return!

Beautiful, Quiet Escape!

We stayed two nights in this off the path place which is run by the casa Rex hotel. This is also the place we're we got our nice breakfast (we were on a organized g-Adventure Tour). The houses are clean, well equipped and have a stunning sea view. There is also a nice pool and access to the sea. We spent only the nights there so I can't give any more information but I imagine it to be a good place to stay with friend and family and use it for self catering. 

Good Base for exploring the Bazaruto Archipelago

Just as the heading says..Apartments are spacious and luxurious,and really secluded just above the beach..Top floor apartments is a huge MUST with huge balcony wrapped around the apartment..Really fantastic self catering units.

Secluded paradise

Great views of the ocean. The apartment did have some problems e.g. there was no internet, we were assured that this was being sorted out. There wete also problems with Air Cons , lights and handles on cupboards had fallen off. Management were very responsive to feedback, and we suggested that someone should check the apartments to ensure everything was ok before the next guests moved in for their stay. Again, management were responsive to this idea.Another suggestion would be to develop an information brochure outlining things to do, places to eat, taxi numbers, and English speaking Doctors numbers. I'm sure Casa Rex has this but it should be extended to the apartments.The pool was really nice and well kept,  however, i would advise guests to wear some form of swimming shoes, as nearly all the guests had cuts on the soles of their feet. I think it is something to do with the cetamic tiles in the pool.

Apartment with a view

If you are looking for self catering accommodation, with no shops or cafes within 30 minutes walk, and no wi fi, then this will be perfect!  Very quiet and deserted.  Lovely view, and leading straight down to the beach.  Spacious accommodation  and well fitted modern kitchen.  

However on the downside, no on-site Manager,  a serious hot water issue (no cold water either one morning)  and no air-con remote in one of the bedrooms.  This accommodation was part of a group tour and I would have much preferred to stay at the Casa Rex - a 5 minute taxi ride (a little too far to walk) which apparently is owned by the same company.
