Villa Rayane

We visited the Villa Rayane for 6 nights at the end of July 2013, not ideal timing as during Ramadan, but we simply wanted somewhere quiet to relax after son/girlfriends first year teaching. 15 minutes outside of Marrakech don’t let the initial typical rustic Moroccan approach road put you off. What you get on arrival is a tranquil garden with a fantastic private pool and view of the Atlas mountains. Each room, there are only 6, is individually decorated, comfortable and interesting in their own way. All of the double beds are 2m square, huge, and each bathroom completely different as well. Food and drinks available on the site, Manager and wife cooked up some superb local dishes for us and plenty of beer on hand when needed. Hotel is an ideal base for exploring Marrakech and the local area, trips into town arranged for us free of charge as was the airport pickup and drop off. Of particular interest is that if you book 4 or more rooms you can have the place to yourself, as we did this time. Would definitely return with a big family group or gang of friends and, Bart, we will be back. Owner also owns some local Spa's or Haman's in Marrakech, well worth a visit and excellent value. One Tip - you can't exchange the currency outside of Morocco and (no one told us this) you cannot spend it in the duty free on the way out either. So spend it in the souk before you leave.
