Riad Dar Colline

The Riad Dar Colline is hidden away in the depths of the Marrakech Medina, at the end of a series of alleyways that can only be traversed on foot (the Medina feels very safe to walk, even late at night). Outside all that gives it away is a beautiful black door in the plain ochre-red walls that characterise the city. Inside, however, it is a revelation: exquisite in blue and white, centred around a courtyard open to the elements, with its six bedrooms opening off of it. There is an atmosphere of charm and stillness which suffuses the whole place, ensuring that a stay there both deeply relaxing and utterly delightful. But it is the staff who make it such a joy: nothing seems too much trouble for Jamal and the others, and their patience and helpfulness and consideration is exceptional. The Riad will not necessarily satisfy those who are looking for five star convenience, but it will entrance those who value authentic, human experience. It is perfectly placed for exploring the vast, mysterious, sprawling Medina and is only a short walk from the famous Jemaa al-Fna. The breakfasts are amazing and the Riad has its own hammam and massage room, as well as a lovely roof terrace. The six rooms are sweet and have their own bathrooms with shower, but the star is the exquisite suite — perfect for a honeymoon or a special occasion. We will be sure to return and can‘t recommend it enough!
