I DID NOT STAY at Les Merinides -- but I stopped there for a glass of wine at sunset and had such a positive experience that I feel compelled to offer my observations. The hotel has a pleasant terrace offering stunning views. I enjoyed relaxing there with a glass of wine as I watched the lights of Fez change as the sun set. It was glorious! Then I sought the hotel staff's help in getting a taxi into Fez's medina. I had a dinner reservation in Fez's medina more than an hour later, but I had not realized how long it might take to get a taxi from the hotel. The staff did recognize that my time was short -- and they did there very best to get me where I needed to go. They even ensured that the taxi driver who eventually arrived took me, by hand, through the maze of the Fez medina's alleys to the door of the restaurant I had reserved. Service above and beyond any reasonable expectation -- particularly because they knew I was not staying at the hotel! They earned my kudos and my thanks. :)
