Pension Campini

Me and my friend stayed here for a long weekend. The owners of the hotel, now called the hotel Fontaine Campini, are some of the most generous people I have ever met. Each morning you are invited to eat breakfast at no extra cost. It consists of many local dishes, exactly the same food as the family eat; they sometimes eat with you. I had a cold (I had it before my visit) while I was there and they provided me with paracetamol and bottled water. Each room is cleaned daily, which I think fantastic considering the price of the room. The location is very central, just a 5 minute walk from the Medina. The only downvote for us was in the toilet in the room there was a bad smell from the shower. We were also visiting in winter which means the room was cold. However, there was an air conditioning unit which we didn't have turned on, this might have helped. Overall, these things were only small compared to the fantastic hospitality of the family.

I’ve looked back at some of the reviews previously posted here, and I’m certain that Hotel Fontaine Campini, it’s new name, has cleaned up quite a bit. We stayed three nights and were very impressed. Rooms were updated and clean, many services available at the location, breakfast was included, delicious and plentiful. I can’t say enough about the generous hospitality. The staff were amazing. It’s location was excellent as it lays right at the edge of Le Jardin Jnane Sbil and the Medina. Next door is the police station and the Palace is across the street. 
Nights were quiet for sleeping. Only minor issue we had was we found the room cool. We visited in March, and were not able to get the heat working well. There were plenty of heavy blankets to help though. We had a triple room that had its own bathroom with shower. Not all rooms have a private bath however. I would recommend this place for couples, and families for sure. 

If you're looking for a good place to stay in Fes and don't want to walk far to see medinas choose Pension Campini. This place is just between Fes el Bali and Fes el Jdid with 5 minut walk from medinas. The service was ok however not so helpful like in Marrakesh. The realation between price and standard is ok but for common bathroom could be a little lower price, we've paid 30 euro per night. Breakfasts were delicious and wifi was for free (connection was much more better than in NH hotels in Nederland). Due to royal palace across the street it is forbidden to take photos from the rooftop terrace.

Great place for visiting Fes

Good place between medinas

I stayed in Morocco for 3 weeks back in Oct 2014. In Fez, initially, I stayed in this hotel but had to move out because of a bed-bug infestation. I am not sure they were from the hotel -- I repeat: I am not sure -- because I had this problem in Tangier (I have written a review about that hotel on the web site too). I had got rid of the bed bugs, however, between Tangier and Fez (I stopped in Chefchaouhen on the way). When I arrived in Fez, at Campini, it started all over again. 

I actually saw 3 or 4 and killed them: they were crawling across the bed. I had been given the family suite on the 1st floor, because the shower in the smaller room I had been given at first did not work (no hot water). 

I did get the impression the bed bugs were home grown! I alerted reception but the friendly young receptionist denied they were bed bugs etc (which is the standard attitude in the country, it seems!). 

So, it is a cheap hotel that is very quite, on the edge of the medina, hence quite central, but this problem should be watched: it may be an area of concern. I stress, may.

Possible bed bug issue

Plud and minus (depending of the point of view) - the pension is not in the heart of medina. I think for us it was a luck, cause Fes was our starting point while travelling through Marocco. It was easy to find, quite good place next to the Royal Palace. 5 minutes walk to Fes el-Bali and quiet, peaceful gardens (Jardin Jnan Sbil), 10 minutes walk to Fes el-Jdid. If you are first time in Marocco and by yourself (without travel office), this place gives you the comfort that you will find way back to your sleeping place (I wouldn't be so sure about riad in the middle of medina).
There was one common bathroom in the corridor, but with hot water (what was really helpful as evenings in February were a little bit cold). 
We paid 25 EUR per night + 5 EUR for breakefst (for two persons).

Good place to start

I recently stayed at hotel campini , and while the hotel itself was clean and comfortable, I was disappointed by the service at the front desk. Mohamed, a staff member who wore glasses, was frequently unfriendly and seemed to be upset during multiple interactions. His attitude was not welcoming, and I believe it affected the overall experience of my stay.
