I would come to Morocco just to stay here, it's truly stunning. The Kasbah has been beautifully restored and commands stunning views over the surrounding palmerie, all the way down to Kasbah Tamenougalt. The owner (grandson of the last Caid) is super friendly and happy to chat it depth about the history of the area (in French). One night was not enough, we would have loved to spend a day in the palmerie and relaxing on one of the lovely terraces with mind-blowing views, but sadly we only had the one night. On a practical note, hot water and good rooms also, and truly excellent food! One of the most memorable places I've ever stayed, having visited 50+ countries in the last 10 years.

Stunning all round

Superb views from the rooftops and an architectural labyrinthine feast. Great man in charge of the mammoth restoration, whose family home this fabulous building has been for centuries. Very arty and stylishly laid back setting and every turret with outstanding views of the vast palmeries and tagine mountain. Highly highly recommended.

fabulous place and project

It was surprisingly nice place. Truly wonderful place with incredible staff. We got a room upgrade there (quadruple room was changed to two double rooms - thank's to the owners). Stunning view to the mountain and palm grove. Rooms are very small, but cosy and clean enough. Owner is very pleasant and helpful. Dinner was just excellent! Very nice inner courtyard. It's living in wonderfully reconstructed historical place. Divinely sunset on the terrace.
The only negative note - incorrect coordinates, so once again we had to ask locals for help finding a hotel.

Wonderful place with nice view!

Came to Agdz just for a stop on my way to the desert for business and had to stay at Casbah des Arts an authentic Casbah that was built in 1662 and been renovated by a Moroccan Film Producer. What can I say? Just wow !!! What a beautiful and amazing place to be ... what a wonderful  property with such an amazing view of the Draa Valley and Palm trees. While in the Rooftop, you'll have a look at the abandoned village with its authentic architecture... the staff here are amazing and caring. If you want to discover some history and love nature and quietness, Casbah des Arts is the place to be!! I am at my 2nd stay here and will definitely come back.

A trip to History

Restored kasbah with lots of character arranged through Rove Morocco Travels for a one night stay. Wonderful views of the palmerarie from the kasbah; along with a trail to the palmerarie right next to the kasbah. We had a very pleasant dinner and breakfast in the protected courtyard. Rooms are clean and unique with lots of character and small details like bathroom sink with stoppers for contact lens wearers.

Restored Kasbah with Lots of Character

This kasbah is an amazing restoration project, the owner has done an incredible of restoring a ruined kasbah back to its former glory.  The tour he gave us was really impressive.  The views from the kasbah are also amazing, as it backs on to a ruined ksar, and overlooks palmerie and dramatic mountains.

The owner was very friendly and went out of his way to show us all the details he put into this property.

However, there were some smaller points that affected our stay and overall satisfaction.  A lot of these could be easily rectified, and we urge the owner to correct these, to improve the experience for his guests.

Maintenance in the bathrooms was lacking.  We had 2 rooms, and there were huge cobwebs in one bathroom, and in the other, the shower consisted of a hose with no shower head on the end.  In both rooms, the single beds were just mattresses placed on the floor.  The ceiling was traditional Moroccan construction of interlaced reeds -- but it meant that when people walked on the terrace above, grit fell from the ceiling straight onto the bed.  If the owner hung a canopy above the bed, this would not be an issue.  Doors had no locks on them, and lights were very weak in the rooms.  There is no wifi, but the owner does allow you to use his laptop (but it is very slow).  

An excellent dinner was served in the central courtyard.  Since we visited in the winter time, this meant that it was after dark, and very cold.  There was no heating here -- so a few strategically-placed heaters would have made this more comfortable.  

Possibly the electrical load, when the place is full and everyone is using their heaters in their rooms, was insufficient, as breakers kept blowing hourly.  We had reserved a double and a single -- but were given a family room with no attached bath -- however, when we brought it to his attention, it was quickly rectified.

We wish him all the best in his future renovations, because this is really a worthy place.  With some minor adjustments, this kasbah would be an incredibly unique, and rewarding place to stay.
