Hotel Excalibur

My wife and I returned to D.F. after two weeks of traveling in Morelos and taking spanish lessons in Tepoztlan. A friend recommended this hotel. We found a great deal on the internet at 710 pesos per night for 3 nights, including continental breakfast for 2 and WiFi internet. The hotel is quite conveniently located in the Zona Rosa with nearby connections to multiple forms of mass transit. Metro Juarez is a short walk away. The reception staff was remarkably helpful and courteous on our Thursday afternoon arrival. Our room on the 8th floor was spacious and very clean with full wide-bandwidth WiFi. Breakfast was simple continental with cereals, yoghurts, coffee, juices, sweet breads, toast and fruit. Everything in our room worked: all the lights and electrical sockets, all the bathroom services including the hair dryer. There was a spacious clothes closet with many hangars, a good work desk with outlets for laptop and cell phone charging. The king-sized bed was a little hard, but nothing compared to our experience in a nearby hotel a few weeks ago. The shower was large with plenty of hot water. There was a flat-screen TV with cable and good resolution. We had a little trouble sleeping because of intermittent street noise, as we were in the heart of the city, but it wasn't significant overall. Walking in the streets after dark felt safe and secure. This part of the city is quite alive at night with many restaurants and bars. The hotel is situated in the midst of heavily used streets, however, so one needs to be careful and keep a sharp eye out for traffic when navigating the surrounding complex intersections. In short, the Excalibur was clean, functional, inexpensive, friendly and well-situated. Would we stay there again? You bet.
