La Leyenda Hostel

Wow, such an amazing hostel.
1. The beds are hella comfy
2. Super clean
3. The breakfast is always changing, and proper delicious (the owner is an amazing chef)
4. Curtains for privacy on the lower beds
5. Super big lockers
6. The friendliest staff ever
7. Showers are decent
8. A good hub to meet new people
9. About 15 minutes from the centre
10. Free hats to borrow if you don't have one
Its just a really cool place to stay, with good food. The hostel owner and his wife took us to cinco señores, (super local festival/play/bmx stunts)in his own time for free and explained everything. I can't recommend this place enough. One of the best hostels I've stayed in.

The place is very clean and very quiet. When we stayed there, we were probably the only customers. Nothing to complain about it, the bathrooms are clean and the breakfast is really nice. It's also really close to the zócalo downtown. The only thing I could add is air conditioning, but the temperature is not hot anyway. 
I recommend it to anyone.

This place needs more publicity

Really nice hostel 

The beds and toilets were clean. The breakfast was allright (it was vegetable soup) the lockers in the dorm are huge. And nice with curtains on the lower beds. We arrived late after taking a bus from San Cristobal, and when we rang the doorbell no one opened. On booking it says that check in is from 3pm to 12pm. We kept ringing the door bell for 10 min but no one came. The only reason we got in was that someone came from outside and found someone working in the hostel.
It says on a paper in the dorm that smoking is not allowed and that it's not allowed to bring things from the kitchen to the rooms. Still people smoked in the area next to the kitchen and there were lots of cups in the dorm. It doesn't feel very professional and we only stayed one night. 

Allright 

The good : The flowers in the outdoors, the decoration and the atmosphere... And the Mexican breakfast are the Highlights of my short stay.

The rest : Three of the four staff people I've met in my one night stay were quite ignorant of everything related to a hostel management. One didn't know how to use the cc, and I had to wait 10 min for other to understand that I've left my luggage in the reception (and I speak Spanish). * The shared bathroom is outside, I mean the basins are in the common space outside, and there are showers and WC in separated rooms for both sexes. I didn't stayed long to use it, but it felt very uncomfortable for me as my room was far from the bathroom and if I had to go outdoors at night, and it was cold... Not nice. *The bed didn't have a blanket, just a polar cover, that was weird since it wasn't a Nordic blanket. I was alone in the room so I took another from an empty bed, but I was cold and there wasn't anyone available to ask for anything. 
*The hostel is too far from the center to walk at night!!!! It's 8 blocks, and that could be tolerable in other cities, but for this one is also far for daylight, considering that are others much closer to the center and much better hostels!!!



Look for another hostel, closer to center 

We went to that hostal after a recommendation and we had the unpleasant surprise to find a filthy hostal! 

The sheets were dirty and they wouldn't change them.  When I opened the water of the sink it came out brown! Although there was nobody staying then at the hostel the bathrooms clearly had not been cleaned: garbage cans in the toilet full of toilet paper, washbasins dirty, left over shampoos in the showers! 

The bathrooms are outside but not sheltered so prepare your raincoat if you need the toilet especially in the middle of the night. 

We had paid for 4 nights but decided to check out because of all of this. The manager would not hear anything or make any effort towards us as for a partial refund. When we went back later that day to try to talk to her she would not even open the gate asking why we were here even though she had kept all of our money. 
That establishment was EMPTY when we got there although the hostel next door was full,  no wonder why!

Do NOT go there!  It is pricier than other hostels in the neighbourhood without an ounce of their quality or even simple amability!
