Mawimbi Boutique Hotel

Our stay at Mawimbi was wonderful! The hotel‘s location is very central as well as directly at the beach and the staff super attentive at all times! The food at the restaurant is also a must if you want to enjoy beautiful sunsets and an excellent international cuisine. We would come back any time:)

My fiancé and I stayed at Mawimbi Boutique Hotel in June, and we’re still dreaming about it! We booked the oceanfront suite, and it was absolutely magical, waking up to the sound of waves and breathtaking views every morning felt like something out of a dream.

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and at home. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely warm. You can tell they care about making your experience special.

The suite was beautiful, spacious, and tastefully decorated with a relaxed, beachy vibe. The patio  facing  the beach was perfect for morning coffee or evening cocktails.

The location is unbeatable, right on the beach but still tucked away just enough to feel peaceful and exclusive. We also loved the small, intimate feel of the property. It was the perfect romantic getaway.

If you’re looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and personalized stay in paradise, Mawimbi is it. We can’t wait to come back—maybe for our honeymoon next time!

An incredible stay at Mawimbi.  We traveled to Holbox for a wedding and had an amazing time.  The hotel is impeccably maintained.  Super clean. Comfortable rooms.  Yummy breakfast. Staff that can’t do enough for you.  This hotel has just the right combination of island vibe, comfort and charm.  We loved it.

Honestly this is one of the best hotels we ever stayed in. First and foremost, the amazing and friendly staff has to be pointed out. But secondly, the location, the beach, the room, the facilities... Everything is just perfect. It literally feels like living in a movie scene. From comfortable sun beds to a bonfire at the beach during sunset, this hotel has it all. Even though we love trying out new restaurants, we only ate in the hotel restaurant the entire stay because it was that good. Peak time is in the morning, when beach club visitors are not yet there and the beach is empty. We will surely come back and have recommended this place to every other Mexico traveller we met so far!

Only thing is: wish the beach had umbrellas - the only shade is from the plants, so you have to move the sun bed around (sounds easy, but they are really heavy and shade moves very much and fast!) But honestly, this is not a reason not to come here, just a suggestion :D

Just plain great.  We were so pleased that we chose this place.  Everything about it charming on the prettiest part of the beach.  We had the cheapest room which was simple; boho chic.  Could've done with a few more hooks but we made do.  We ate more than we would normally in house - the food was excellent.   I'm half Italian...the pasta offerings are spot on.  Staff were charming.  The evidence of the owners meant that every detail was taken care of.  We will return.

Most amazing vacation ever. Room was lovely new and clean with wonderful view of the ocean. Restaurant delicious and staff friendly and helpful. Zero complaints and will definitely be back!! We love it and highly recommend it.

This was my 2nd visit to Hotel Mawimbi, and it's the only place in over a decade of travelling multiple times per year that I've ever returned to! 
The rooms are comfortable and peaceful, very beautiful, pictures don't do them justice. And the service from the staff is unmatched. Marcia and her team, including restaurant staff, are incredibly kind & considerate. And the food is amazing!
Lastly, Mawimbi has the BEST stretch of beachfront of any hotel that I've seen - & I've walked the entire stretch of the beach multiple times! 


Hotel Mawimbi is fantastic. Rooms are spotless. AC is cold. Location is perfect. Ambiance is relaxing and amazingly designed. Very comfortable stay. 3 minute walk down beach or through town to main square and restaurants. We had a wonderful stay. And Marcia was so kind and helpful to set up our other adventures and travel perfectly. Marcia, thank you thank you!!! 

My boyfriend and I stayed at Mawimbi in a beachfront room for 4 nights and it was an absolute dream. Each staff member greeted us by name throughout our stay and made us feel like family- Christian, Gabriel, and Marcia especially went above and beyond. The grounds are unmatched in Holbox and the food is incredible. We cannot wait to come back!

The stay was last year. The hotel is being rebuilt to its former, yet better status. We have enjoyed staying there for 16 years and have reserved into the future for more. The owners touring the Yucatan in their youth saw their dream future together and built this wonderful hotel. Come and join their wonderful journey.

An Absolute Dream in Holbox

A dream with exceptional owners and staff

This is the best hotel on Holbox! Wonderful staff, beautiful rooms and steps from the ocean. Rooms are not currently available due to renovations from a fire but the beach and restaurant are open for day pass and meals. It is perfection- quiet, serene, large comfy padded lounge chairs and plenary of space- not lined up like sardines! The food, cocktails and service is fantastic. Highly recommend!

Best hotel, beach, and day pass on Holbox!

many years ago I saw hotel mawimbi in a magazine and dreamed of going.  It finally happened in early November.  We arrived late in the day and were quickly swept to our beachfront room, Palma.  I felt I had arrived in paradise, especially after I was handed one of the delicious house cocktails as a welcome drink.  Mawimbi is on a prime piece of beach, near the town which was convenient.  I did Zumba in the town square.  Our room was lovely, the service was great and the food was good.  The prices for everything were reasonable. One disadvantage was the dogs, who run free and do what dogs do.  They are visited by their friends, who are other dogs from other places. I am writing this in the interest of full disclosure.  Overall we had a wonderful week, enjoyable and relaxing, exactly what we wanted.  Perfect if you are not the Cancun type, and you want something authentic.  Note:  many of the hotels are across the road from the beach.  not Mawimbi.  Photos of the hotel cleverly hide this detail.  Other hotels have palapas that hide the view of the beach, not Mawimbi which has a beautiful view.  Don't miss the sunset. November was a perfect month to go.  Winter can be cool.
