74 reviewsWe visited Maafushi to complete my scuba certifications and were looking for a guesthouse type accommodation with lots of space and a homely atmosphere since we were staying for a week. We could not have gotten a better guesthouse! Upon our arrival at Maafushi, we were greeted by the owner Mr. Ali at the jetty and took a walk to our hotel with our luggage being pulled on a hand-cart. I am specifying this because the island is so small that cars and scooters just seem unnecessary. Of course we were expecting a car to pick us up and for a moment thought we were going to get scammed!! As we reached we were welcomed with a cold towel and some mango juice. We occupied a family room on the first floor. It is a spacious room with a balcony. Again, nothing luxurious, but sprightly, cool and felt like home. The guesthouse is located right in front of the beach, and sunrises are breathtaking. During the evening, you could walk this part of the beach for baby stingray and baby shark sightings, while at night you may get lucky and get to see the bioluminiscent plankton that Maldives is also popular for. (google it if you didn't know. Be sure to NOT miss out.) The manager Mr. Reefa is an amazing man and has a ton of stories and experiences to share. He is ever smiling and approachable and will help you with anything (i literally mean anything) you want. All the other staff were cordial, kind and found ways to understand and help us out when we failed at communication. They serve a basic continental breakfast throughout the week, with maldivian breakfast on tuesdays and fridays. Staying for a week was a pleasure with Maafushi Inn.
