Bliss Dhigurah Hotel

We spent four unforgettable days at Bliss Dhigurah to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and it was everything we hoped for—peaceful, relaxing, and beautifully serene. We stayed in Room 207, a suite on the second floor with a spacious bathroom, a balcony offering a stunning view, and a very comfortable bed. The room was spotless, and housekeeping visited twice a day to tidy up. One minor inconvenience was the lack of EU plug sockets—we needed an adapter to charge our devices. We booked a bed and breakfast package but chose to dine at the hotel’s restaurant, Hermits, which had plenty of delicious options. We especially enjoyed a special beach dinner organized by the hotel: a beautifully decorated table and a custom menu under the stars. Bliss Dhigurah is perfectly located—just steps from the sea and a short walk from Bikini Beach. We never wore shoes, walking barefoot the entire time. In July, the island isn’t crowded, so we always found available sunbeds spaced about 10–15 meters apart. Half the island is covered in lush forest that stretches right to the water, creating a dreamlike, Instagram-worthy backdrop. Be sure to visit the sandbank—it’s a must! You can walk there, though it's a bit of a trek. We rented a motorbike for one day, which saved a lot of time and allowed us to visit the sandbank twice. There’s also a remote sandbank that the hotel can arrange transport to (15–20 minutes by boat). It’s a tiny, deserted island—just sand and sea—with no trees or other people. They can provide picnic gear and a sun umbrella for a peaceful private escape. We joined the Whale Shark excursion, which was a half-day tour starting at 8 AM. It took nearly three hours to spot one using a WhatsApp network and drone searches, but just as we were heading back, we found a whale shark and had the incredible opportunity to snorkel with it—despite the crowd of tourists, it was absolutely worth it. There’s a water sports center nearby where you can enjoy jet skis and more. We also treated ourselves to a massage at the hotel spa. We stayed two nights at a resort after Dhigurah, but keep in mind that everything—especially food and excursions—is much more affordable in Dhigurah. One note: if you smoke, bring enough cigarettes. They’re hard to find on the island, $16 per pack at the airport in Malé, and a shocking $45 at resorts. Luckily, Mohamed, the hotel manager, kindly helped us find a pack. He also arranged our motorbike rental and supported us whenever needed—always friendly and attentive. Bliss Dhigurah arranged our transfers from and to Malé, including help with getting a local SIM card and organizing a seaplane. We highly recommend Bliss Dhigurah for an unforgettable holiday. Don’t skip the excursions. We fell in love with this island, the hotel, and especially the wonderful staff.
