This place is wonderful! Make sure you sign up for the meals...homegrown, cooked with love & sophistication. Recommend the bike trip to the nature reserve. Extras include sauna, hot tub etc.  Beautiful location, friendly and more-than-helpful hostess. Go!

Stayed there on the way to another attraction ''Lottemaa'' theme park and Skanais Kalns near Mazsalaca. House itself is a fine example of a traditional Latvian farm house with all original features restored to it's original beauty. 
Very friendly owner, nice and tidy rooms. Also had a set meal which was a traditional Latvian home cooked food. There is also a sauna area.
So if you are after a genuine country side experience with a lot of fresh air and quite surrounding this should be an excellent choice!

I took my 2 small children out to the Valmiera area to visit friends and stayed at Country House Lantus since our friends didn't have the room to put us up.  It was a bone chilling -20C but the sun was shining and the room + hospitality shown to us by the owners just wonderful. Being the dead of winter, rates were very cheap (20LVL/nt) for a room that slept 3 and for 6Lvl (in total but you must pre-order) more got an absolutely fantastic breakfast served in the dining room of crepes/jam, porridge, tea, coffee, eggs complete with a roaring fire in the fireplace.  It was like being in a charming farmhouse. The guest room we stayed in was spotless, large and cozy and when you add the breakfast, we forgot about the cold outside.  I cannot recommend this place enough if you're looking for a getaway to the gorgeous Latvian countryside where Lantus offers even more services when the weather gets warm.  We'll be back come summer for sure for a longer stay----or two!

A fantastic little house in a picturesque setting. Really comfy beds, the down stairs bathroom could do with a bit of modernisation but apart from that everything was superb. 

Would definately reccomend to anyone staying in the area.
