Cheng Backpackers Hotel 2

One massive room with 20 beds in. Perfect for meeting people. Nice balcony with pillows overlooking the street. Decent shower and toilets. Not high end accommodation but perfect for a base to explore the city.

The hostel is good. You get where you pay for (around 5$ per night). It is not like the best accommodation where i ever slept, but it is pretty oke!

The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The location is really good, not that far from the night market (5 minutes walk). The rooms are okay. We had a hot shower and a pretty clean bathroom! The bed is not that good, but still okay for the price.

Good hostel

Booked a doubleroom via the agoda webpage at the Cheng hotel.
Upon arrival the owner was like: "Your booking canceled, no room! All booking.com and agoda cancelled..."
What an unpleasant surprise in abooked out town!
In the end we got two mattress in the dorm, but no bed. 

The hostel itself is well located, but in a dire state.
No recommendation at all.

We were at this hostel for 2 nights. We decided to booked because it had nice reviews. Our surprise came when we saw rats, like massive rats in the dorm. Once we opened the lockers, we discovered the rats had eaten part of our backpacks. 3 people was affected. In my case, a small hole (around 5cm), but another girl was really damaged because RATS had eaten her backpack zipper so she couldn't close her backpack anymore. The owner accuse us of being laying and he didn't do anything.
Horrible place, worst experience.

RATS! Worst place ever

For a start, this place is waaaaay over priced for the standard. we are staying here at Chinese New Year so every place is busy so that I can probably deal with the price. 
We booked through hostel world and when we arrived the owner ( who had very little English) just said ' no no no no hostel world no no all cancelled' and refused to acknowledge our booking or deposit. ( I have contacted hostel world about our deposit!!) We were lucky that we arrived early and we're still able to get a bed but he sent others away who had also booked through hostel world. Every other place was fully booked. He was happy to accept bookings through booking.com or agoda. 
The dorm rooms are really basic, not the cleanest I have seen, although we are lucky we have a bed and aren't sleeping on mattresses in the middle of the floor! 
There are 2 toilets for the entire hostel. 

Having said all of the above,if you're not expecting too much, uit was a pretty funny to watch the owner deal with people ( the wifi really only works in the reception!)   If anyone has seen the tv programme fawlty towers, you'll have a good idea of what goes on!!
