View Khem Khong Guesthouse

I spent a full month on a project in Luang Prabang and initially booked only 3 nights at Khem Khoung Guest House. Right away I knew I could be content there so booked the rest of the month. A month is a long time but Eric and Goo made me feel very welcome and at home. They really helped create a wonderful experience for me.  As others say, it is very clean, good wifi, convenient supply of tea and coffee, hot water in the shower, AC and good bedding.  It is small but that isn't unusual for such places in Luang Prabang. Thank you Eric and Goo for making me feel so happy every day!  You are the greatest!

Location is excellent, right in the centre of Luang Prabang. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful, and they assisted with recommendations, renting a scooter for a day and booking the slow boat to Huay Xai. The rooms are a tad small for two people but nothing to complain about whatsoever. The shower is hot and we were provided with all products. Wi-Fi works excellently and we were able to FaceTime our families. Beds are clean and comfortable. There is free filtered water available 24/7. Absolutely recommend staying here!

The guest house is located along Khong River while the road in front is the key road the all major destinations such as pier, night/morning market, Wat and cafe. It is an absolute stay for a backpackers who can travel by feet. I stayed at room 201 - a small room with big bed and rest room. People here is such a perfect host Khun Ampai she helped me a lot for my first visit at Luang Prabang.

It was a perfect stay - the staff were some of the kindest I’ve met. The room was clean with an amazing hot shower and the location was perfect for exploring all of the town and night market. The puppy was a nice extra haha.

I stayed on two occasions and both times the rooms were clean and well appointed,  if a little small.  The guesthouse restaurant across the road had superb views of the Mekong and offered guests a 20% discount. But the best aspect was the friendliness and helpfulness of the manager and his staff. Would recommend for solo travellers.

The service was just excellent from Eric and his staff. He made sure you knew all the best ways to see and do what you wanted. The hotel is right near the river and restaurant attached looks over the river.

We stayed here on and off for nine days and loved it!It has an excellent location by the Mekong and close to everything else in town. The rooms are small but very pleasant and impeccably clean (!). They have one front room which is bigger and has a balcony facing the street and river. It is slightly more noisy but we loved it. All the rooms have comfortable washroom and plenty of hot water. Good wifi connection. It has a very homely ambiance. Eric the manager is very nice, friendly and super-helpfull. It is very resonably priced.
They have a very good restaurant with lovely river views and a good variety of tasty dishes (20% discount to hotel guests).

There are many reasons I would return to this guest house, probably the most outstanding reason would be the charm, friendliness, kindness and humour of Eric who runs it. He made our stay in Luang Prabang so easy by providing information about how to get from A to B, recommending tuk tuk drivers and advising on places to visit. He provides something often lacking in today's world of hospitality - the human touch.

Beyond Eric, the guesthouse is located across the road from the Mekong River, such a beautiful spot, you can easily enjoy the view over a drink and/or a meal in one of the many restaurants along the riverside. Much of Luang Prabang is in easy walking distance and finding your way about is quite straightforward.

The rooms are clean and tidy, everything worked. Laundry can be left with Eric who will organise everything, allow about a day for your clothes to come back and make a list of what you bag.

Whilst not fancy, this guesthouse has all you need. I was very comfortable there and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

This place overlooks the river (although i don’t think any of the rooms do as they are all along the side of the building and not the front). However the guesthouse restaurant does overlook the river and is a very nice place to enjoy a meal or a drink whilst watching the sun set over the valley. The rooms are small, but mine was clean and tidy, plus the rate is very good so i had no complaints about the room. Most importantly the water pressure was strong in the shower and it was nice and hot (not always the case when travelling through SEA). Eric the owner was very informative and helped me retrieve my credit card when it got swallowed by the ATM machine around the corner.  I’d definitely stay again, plus it was nice seeing the cats in the foyer, gives it a real homely feel. 

The Khem Khoung guesthouse is run by a fantastic French guy called Eric who is the ultimate you could want in someone who is friendly,helpful and mine of information,in my years of travel I have yet to meet anyone who can compare to him,the guesthouse is situated directly across from the Mekong and just a short walk away from the main thoroughfare, so I would highly recommend it.

Cosy and Convenient Stay in Luang Prabang

I  stayed here for 6 days and had an overall great stay. It is located on a quiet street overlooking the river. There is a restaurant of the same name and staying guests get 20% off dining there - the food was really good and I ate there at least once a day :)

The room was small but very clean and had most things you needed. There is no hairdryer or kettle but there is a water dispenser on the first floor so you can refill your water and save the earth by not using plastic bottles. The French manager and his staff are really lovely and helpful - they helped me with laundry, taxi etc... They own 2 cats and a dog which are very tame and sweet too. 

My stay was almost perfect except for noise: there were noisy guests who kept slamming the doors loudly early morning and night. The management has posted notices in each room about keeping noise levels down but it depends on your neighbours to adhere to them. Towards the end of my stay, a French couple next door spoke loudly outside my door daily at morn and night and slammed the door so hard as if they were angry?  My toilet sink was slightly clogged but it worked fine mostly. 
Overall, I would recommend this place and would stay again. If you're a light sleeper, use ear plugs/white noise :)

We enjoyed our stay at View Khem Khong Guesthouse.  It was a nice relaxing stay after partying it up in Vang Vieng.  Our family stayed in 2 rooms that were nice.  My 8 year old son really liked the cats.  Eric, the owner, was extremely nice and helpful with our questions and arranging our trip to Kuang Si Waterfall and letting us know where to book the slowboat back to Thailand.  When I got strep throat he even wrote it on paper in Lao for the pharmacist down the road to understand what I needed.  The night market and many other places are walking distance.  The riverfront restaurant across the street was very good as well.
