The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo 

A genuinely stunning property, and the luxury hotel where the service matches the price tag. The room. Beautiful, immaculate, and thoughtfully designed rather than just expensive-looking. The city view is spectacular. Automated blinds, considered lighting throughout, and one of the most comfortable beds we've slept in. They left gifts waiting for us on arrival setting the tone for the whole stay. The staff are the reason to book here. They handled restaurant reservations, gave genuinely good recommendations, and helped us think through timing and scheduling for our days. Not "we'll look into it" helpful, actually helpful, and consistently warm about it. It's the kind of service that makes a trip easier instead of just more comfortable. Food and drink. The lobby bar is gorgeous and the cocktails are excellent. Breakfast overlooks the skyline and delivers on both the food and the view. Worth getting up for. Location. It isn't the most central spot in Tokyo, and that's the one honest trade-off. In our experience the service and quality more than made up for it. The mall next door also helps with some solid food and shopping right there without going anywhere. Bottom line: if you're weighing this against something more central, book here anyway. The staff make it worth it.
