Very good
150 reviewsDepending on what you want to do in Tokyo, this hotel could be a gem or a hindrance. It is situated in a small unmarked side street opposite the Tokyo Dome and Rollercoast/Ferris wheel fun park. I walked around the area in freezing weather for an hour trying to find it. Thankfully, reception staff at another nearby hotel helped and walked me to the Suidobashi Grand Hotel. I would never have found it on my own. If you want to be near the Dome and Suidobashi Station, it is in a great location. Close by are a few restaurants, a 7-Eleven store, two Lawson stores (similar to 7-Eleven) and Don Quixote which is a 24-hour discount store selling everything from clothes to food to electrical applicances and second-hand Louis Vuitton handbags. It's a very busy supermarket store at any time of the day. I ate outside the hotel so I cannot comment on the breakfast menu. The hotel felt more like a hotel for business people wanting a few nights in Tokyo, not really for tourists, so it had a subdued atmosphere. Other positives about this hotel are: - the reception staff are friendly and helpful - rooms have electric jug, hairdryer, small refrigerator, TV, nice bathrooms (with bath) and comfy beds. - very good free Wifi - rooms are clean Disadvantages of this hotel are: - single rooms are very small. 2.5 m x 5 m and that includes the area for the bathroom. The only place a suitcase can be lay down and opened is on the bed. - walls are not well insulated. Coughing, toilets, crunching paper, the elevators, knocking, TVs can be heard through the walls from other rooms. - the only hanging space for clothes is 4 hooks and hangers on the wall. - my room had a small frosted window which could only be opened by pulling up the bottom half. Too heavy for me. So I didn't see the view from the window. - the aircon in winter is one temperature - HOT. I had my turned off most of the time even though it was below zero outside. The room was too small for HOT air. - checkin is 1500 so if you arrive in Tokyo early morning as I did you have to wait until 1500 to access your room. Checkout is 1000. The location was the best feature and the noise from other rooms and the corridor was the worst feature.
