Fantastic lodge, great hosts, staff were amazing. 
Nothing was too much trouble for Emily, Mike and their staff. We were so well looked after and felt like family after only a few days. 
We skied Cortina/Norikurd straight from the lodge most days. We also ventured to Happo and Tsugaike taking advantage of the lodges own shuttle service. 
We ate in the lodge most nights as Mike produces the most amazing food and the bar is well stocked. We The Green Plaza Hotel is a short walk away and we became great fans of the hotel’s onsen. Nothing better after a day on the slopes. 
We will definitely return to Canopy Cortina.

My experience at Canopy Cortina was an unexpectedly awesome combination of a European ski-in/ski-out chalet, a Japanese forest lodge, and Michelin-level food and drink. The hosts (Emily and Mike) and staff were superb in every way.
The staff are genuinely welcoming – two of the Canopy team cheerily greeted me by name during a chance encounter at a far-flung ski lift in another resort in the valley on their time off – and nothing seemed too much trouble.
The cozy and relaxed ski lodge vibe alongside the top-level cuisine being prepared and served by Mike and his team really made the experience quite special. I was there for several days for a family event which took over the lodge, and the food throughout was spectacular; canapes the team served were perhaps the best I have ever had.
Something special has been created at this place, I would stay again in a heartbeat, and I wish the entire team every success.

We've been bumping around Niigata, Gunma and Nagano this Japanese snow season and our stay at Canopy Cortina was hands down the best we've had! Communication with Emily was superb, nothing was ever too difficult for the always friendly staff and Mike's revolving menu in the restaurant was something that we all looked forward to after an enjoyable day's skiing. A short walk to the slopes of Cortina and Norikura / some of best snow in the Hakuba region / brilliant food / complimented by a cozy boutique lodge stay. I shouldn't be letting the secret out but we'll certainly be back again this season if not next. Thanks again for all the memories Emily and Mike!

Stayed here for a yoga retreat...Wow what a wonderful place to stay. Large rooms, comfy beds, private bathroom, cosy living areas and the best food I have ever had. Mike is a fantastic cook and every meal was a taste sensation.  Did a sourdough cooking class with Mike and learnt so much. Emily is a gorgeous host - gracious and welcoming and did everything she could to make our stay enjoyable.
You can tell Emily and Mike love this place and and together they have created a wonderful sanctuary. One day I'll have to come back in the winter and experience a completely different aspect of the expansive views.

My family of three (including our 4 year old) met family friends (with their 2 year old) at Canopy for 4 wonderful nights, and we can't say enough good things. We had such a wonderful time, that as soon as we returned back home, we were tempted to book another trip before end of season.

Although the lodge is about 20mins from Hakuba, the LOCATION is perfect if you are sticking to Cortina Resort for your skiing and boarding experience, as it’s only a few minutes walking distance. 

The STAFF at the lodge were so friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was as though we had known them for years. Clara, specifically, was so easy to chat with and always had a smile on her face.

The main communal area is the COZIEST space you can imagine for a lodge. With its warm fire place, comfy couches and bean bags, never ending tea and coffee, and spacious media room, it's the perfect place to lounge before and after hitting the slopes (or on those miserable-weather days).

The FOOD and WINE are nothing short of AMAZING! Mike's creations are like nothing you have experienced before. And, on top of everything, he and his staff did a fantastic job accommodating to my GLUTEN-FREE needs. As a CELIAC, I wasn’t expecting to be catered so well, but ended up eating every breakfast and dinner there. They were very good about making sure my food was safely prepared and I never ended up sick once.

Our 3-PERSON ROOM was quite spacious considering the big beds that were inside. It featured two closets, a mini fridge, Japanese toilet, shower (be prepared, it is tiny!), sink, and a beautiful VIEW of the MOUNTAINS! Just a heads up that the beds are on the softer side. And, the blankets are quite heavy and warm which may be uncomfortable for warm sleepers (my husband and I had a bit of a difficult time with this).

 The lodge is a great place for FAMILIES, COUPLES and FRIENDS alike! If you are planning  a trip to Hakuba, I cannot recommend Canopy Cortina enough! We definitely plan to be back next year!

Another awesome stay! We stayed in canopy for the third time and we can’t enough of it. The cozy atmosphere, the fireplace, Mike’s amazing food make your stay unforgettable each time. This time we spent Christmas with my parents, our daughter and some friends; Mike and Emily accommodated everything to make this moment unique and perfect, thank you again for always having us and see you soon!

Just had one of the beast meals in the Hakuba Valley …. If you didn’t know, you can get dinner at canopy cortina.. you need to book! The food was incredible…  the charcoal roast Mackrell was beautiful… as was all of the courses ..  and the fennel ice - cream to finish! Wow ..  nice work Mike & Emily and your team…  we will be back!

Emily and Mike have created an incredibly comfortable and lovely place to stay in Hakuba. The food is delicious, and their hospitality made the entire stay delightful. Our kids loved the TV room and space to play outside in the snow, and we loved getting to mingle with other guests in the evenings over a fantastic meal. Could not have asked for a better experience!

Only good things to say about this place. Amazing hosts who are very kind and helpful, the most delicious homemade food (they even asked the kids what they would like for dinner) and comfortable beds. Afternoon wine or hot chocolate by the fireplace was so good. Would love to come back!

I stayed at CC with my eight-year-old daughter for five nights and had an incredible time. Mike and Emily literally pull out every stop! The lounge and dining room are great for hanging out and chatting with new friends over drinks. I loved curling up on the sofa in front of the fire.

And the food! I generally prefer to eat out at local restaurants when I travel, but Mike’s food is so good I couldn’t wait to head back to CC for dinner every night. His sourdough naan is something else! 

Couldn’t recommend CC enough. And I can’t wait to get back with my whole family next time.

Highly recommended for any kind of visit, couples or groups of friends/families, who want to experience “living” by the slopes. 

Mike and Emily offers a great experience, staying in their lodge with beautiful rooms and having lovely home-cooked meals! Both are very accommodating to your needs and try to make your experience as best as they can offer. They can give recommendations based on what you are looking to experience. 

Their lodge is nice and cozy, it’s worth the stay even if you’re not into snow sports (like us!). Or in fact it’s so cozy it makes you just want to stay warm indoors and relax. We enjoyed the snow and the mountain views by walking around the area or even just looking out through our window. And their shuttle service helped us reach nearby places as we didn’t have our own car to drive us around. We’d definitely visit again with more friends and family!
