Very close to the Miyanoura port when you arrive. Friendly hostess who speaks English well. Clean, simple, tatami mat style rooms. Shared bathrooms and showers. Slippers (provided) only allowed upstairs! Simple toast breakfast with tea and coffee included.

Very well located and great value.  Simple but very comfortable futons in the room.  Extremely clean. Shared facilities is not really an issue because this is a small guest house.  Toast and tea or coffee for breakfast was much appreciated (....noting that it is room only basis and there is not supposed to be anything for breakfast!!).   The lady who looks after this guest house, Kumiko-San, was extremely friendly and super helpful.  There are several good places to eat and have drinks nearby and the ferry terminal is 5 mins walk.  Breakfast place right across the street.  Designer art onsen close by too.  Overall cannot go wrong. Thanks so much!!


SO, we considered staying at the Benesse House but chose here instead, for budget reasons and for location.  When we visited, we found that even price aside, this place was better.  You are in the port town, and close to restaurants and to the public art onsen I love Yu (which is totally worth a visit).  The restaurants around are inexpensive and very good.  You can rent bikes nearby (I recommend electric assist for all of the hills), there is a market just up the street with produce, snacks and food, and the hostel has a refrigerator upstairs as well as one below, and a kitchen.  The included breakfast of toast, butter and jam, and tea/coffee was totally adequate to start us off.  There are 2 coffee shops right near the hostel (across and down the street).   There is also a beach you can swim at right near the ferry.  the room we stayed in, triple, was at the front of the hostel and had a nice view over the small town.  The a.c. worked great as well.  

We are glad we stayed here and not Benesse. after visiting Benesse, we thought it was was way too isolated for us, and you would be eating your meals there, which would be costly and limited in scope.

We stayed for one night to explore the galleries.  We hired electric bikes to get around.  The accommodation was clean and four of us slept in the room, two adults and two teenagers. There was plenty of room a loo and good shower and fully equipped kitchen.  The room was warm and all the bedding more than adequate. On Mrs Maroulla's recommendation we ate at Little Plum and it was very good.  The accommodation is only a 10 minute walk to the ferry so very handy.  For a brief stay would definitely recommend.

Great value accommodation!

This is more of a hostel with private rooms but shared bathrooms. The location is quite close to the ferry terminal and some restaurants. The place was generally clean but for japanese standards though quite run down and also pretty expensive for what it is.
