Yaze and her husband are very nice people! They can communicate in English, for us non-Japanese speaking tourists. They were so kind, Yaze picked me up from the train station when I called and asked. The next morning, her husband was ready at 6am prompt to drop me back off at the station! They refused any money from me, which I gladly would have paid for for each ride. That is customer service, and I would stay here again. Oh, her husband shared a Sake with me the night before, and another guest.

According to a regular local guest, this guesthouse is more affordable than most others in Matsumoto. It came with a price though -- being quite a distance from the train station and Matsumoto Castle. Fortunately the host was glad to pick us up from the train station and send us back after our stay.

We could only spend one night there so had to give the famed castle a miss. Instead, we went to nearby Agata Forest Park where an art and craft fair was taking place.

Another tricky part of its location is finding food nearby. With the help of Google Maps, we went to a noodle shop that served very good food.

The place itself was very basic. The dorms were unisex and fitted with bunk beds. Shared toilets with shower were not unisex though.

Perhaps we were too pampered by the ultra clean and tidy places we had stayed in Japan, this one was a notch less so.

For this, I was struggling between giving a rating of 3 or 4. Eventually decided that it wouldn't have given them justice to receive a 3. After all, we did enjoy our stay there. That's what matters!

very very helpful, happy couple that run the place, although the hostel is a little bit out of the way, they will pick you up from the station and drop you off if you arrange it with them. unfortunately it was very hot on the days I stayed there and there was no air-conditioning in the room I stayed in so I struggled a little bit with only a fan but that was no fault of the hostel or the owners. although the hostel doesn't have the greatest location or facilities, it is has a homey feel.

Call to accommodation from Matsumoto stn,Take a bus to Agata no Mori stop around 10 minutes,then walk to South direction to the river,then over the bridge,turn left,soon you find the white building.

<My opinion>
This is Only One bagpacker accommodation in Matsumoto city.Minus toint is location.Don't walk from Matsumoto station,it's too far with carring your heavy luggage.Quite river side atmosphere. Stuff is very helpful and good English speaker.I recommend this cozy accommodation for everyone.
