Pension Butter Milk

If you are looking for a comfortable friendly place to rest your head (and legs) during a jaunt to the ski slopes of the amazing Hakuba multiple resorts, this is it for me. It is not the lap of luxury, it is however warm, welcoming comfortable and extremely friendly hosts. Really, Naoko san and Fujita san are both extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant provides a continental breakfast which is functional rather than lavish, but enough for most palates and needs. Lunch and dinner the food is wholesome and tasty, served in good time and not crazy ski resort pricing. A couple of Australian guys working in the restaurant were both great, Ben and (Sorry forgot the name of the chef), friendly efficient and willing to share local ski tips and secrets. Previous year I stayed at Gondola hotel, worst hotel experience ever, this year at Buttermilk, I could not have been happier in this style of accommodation (except no smoking indoors, but may well be a legal thing) Shuttle bus on the door step so getting to other ski areas than Happoone is very easy.
