Its been over two years since we stayed at Misty Valley and met Ugo and Siobhan. We still speak of them with such warmness and fondness. Their place is comfortable, beautiful and inviting. When we return we will be sure to visit or stay with them again. They are excellent hosts!

A beautiful setting for a guesthouse. The family grow all kinds of things in their garden, which they were very generous with. We particularly enjoyed their delicious avocados! Guests can access a small kitchen. It's cooler here than down in Montego Bay. This is a good place to stay in its own right, but public transportation isn't great; it would be better to stay down in the town if you wanted to access beaches and bars in Montego Bay.

Some of the things that attracted us to Misty Valley and made it sound unique and original included the pool, recording studio, and morning yoga. However, it is worth being aware these might not all be available at the time of your stay. For example, when we were there (August 2018) the pool was available to use whenever we wanted to, but the recording studio was undergoing a revamp after a termite attack, and Ugo's partner (Siobhan) who leads the yoga wasn't around, so neither of those things were on offer. I understand Siobhan is also the main cook, so whilst Ugo's mother-in-law was able to make breakfast, there was no dinner on offer - although Ugo was happy to drive us into town to grab dinner every evening at no extra cost. (The family are all vegetarian, and Ugo follows a raw vegan diet). Ultimately these things didn't impact our enjoyment of our stay in the end but if these are the main reason you book it may be worth checking what's available during your stay, or be prepared to just go with the flow! Note: There are also 10 dogs.

Ugo is a rastafarian who is very smiley, relaxed, welcoming and friendly. He is happy to chat to you about any topic and was a great person to learn about Jamaica from. We really felt we got an interesting insight into the country and some of its people by staying here.

We did day trips from Misty Valley to the hummingbird sanctuary and to the bamboo rafting on the river, both of which we really enjoyed. The family offers a decent guide to tours on offer in the area.

Ugo offers pick-ups from Montego Bay (airport or other accommodation) for $1000JMD which is very reasonable.

Misty Valley is indeed a magical and peaceful place to stay as other reviewers have noted.  There is energy there that I've not felt in other places.The highlight though of my stays in Jamaica is always yoga with Siobhan.  I've tried many different yoga classes in the U.S., but none ever stuck with me, nor I with it.  Siobhan changed all of that.  She is attentive to what is going on in the body and designs her classes to address individual needs.  When it was time to return home, she sent me on my way with a few key postures I could continue my practice with.  My lower back issues have disappeared. I no longer suffer from sleepless nights now that I use Siobhan's breath work to relax and fall back to sleep.  Completely life changing for me - if you are in the Montego Bay area - yoga with Siobhan is a must!!!

We enjoyed this beautiful and secluded place. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Ugo with a coconut. The room is basic, but has a very nice balcony with a wide view. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast. We really loved the papaya with cinnamon and lime!. 
Misty Valley is about 20 minutes drive from MoBay. When you enjoy the beach you can visit Doctors Cave, which is a public beach. 
Also, Ugo can take you on a tour to different places, like the Luminous Lagoon. 

What makes Misty Valley so special is the hospitality of Ugo and Siobhan. They love to tell you about Jamaica.

My first trip to Jamaica alone led me to Ugo and Siobhan's sanctuary. Their house is located in a serene neighborhood yet, so close to downtown and some main attractions. Siobhan and Ugo are warm, kind hearted and fun. They went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable, entertained, and well fed. I was supposed to stay with them for four days but extended to seven days. The couple has so much wisdom that I left with valuable knowledge. 
I will stay here again when I am in Montego Bay. In fact, I will return to Montego Bay just to see them again; they became my new family.
