Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto

Hubby booked this last minute for a surprise based on the reviews and location. After visiting I immediately was delighted with his choice! Not far from a water bus stop it meant the airport transfer was easy. In a peaceful alley but close walking distance to everything. The bed was unbelievably comfortable and I am usually very fussy about my pillows but these too were perfect. Once in our room we did have to keep our shutters closed as building work going on and scaffolding right outside but this never bothered us as we were a side room so no outlook anyway and only in room to sleep. Never had any noise issues seen on another review. Our room was on the first floor and was small but as already said not in there much. The bathroom was basic but ok. Great WiFi throughout too. Breakfast was impressive as it offered a fab range of continental choices and some hot options too. Small dining area but we never had an issue and the staff were friendly and quick to help. The reception area gave us great first impression too, our check in and out was quick and straightforward. However, I don't believe this was a 4 star hotel I think a fabulous 3 star due to the little finishing touches not being dealt with. For example hair and a hair clip on the floor or our room when we checked in, the lamp fixtures were broken, marks on the wall. For the comfy bed, tasty breakfast and superb location I happily overlooked these small niggles and would definitely visit again if lucky enough to return to Venice. The restaurant 2 mins away - Al Nono Risorto is well worth a visit as delicious!
