Our view from our lower building room was so beautiful! We took the hotel funicular to the upper patio in the evenings and enjoyed wine and snacks we picked up in town. Breakfast was incredible! Yogurt, eggs, meat, cheese, bread, cereals, pastry, juices, hot chocolate and coffee. The view from the dining area was amazing. I had some issues getting a strong wifi signal in our room and had to go to the reception/breakfast area to do my work. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the train station. It is a fairly steep incline at the end, but we had no problems walking it. From the hotel, you can walk up to the castle. We walked the trail to Bellano and took the train back to Varenna. It’s hard to find your way in some parts, so having GPS on the trail would be helpful.
