Haus Lasaun

Easy 10-15 minute walk from bus stop in St. Andra up the eastern wall of mountains outside Brixen/Bressanone. An infrequent bus stops right next to Haus Lasaun as well. While the owner lady spoke hardly any English, she made great attempts to communicate with us (we speak next to no German) and she was the nicest lady imaginable. While breakfast is normally scheduled for 8 am, she went well out of her way to make us breakfast at 5:30 am one morning and 6 am the next morning because on one morning I was running the Brixen Dolomiten Marathon and the next morning we had to leave town early. Breakfast was excellent and all the food you could want - so much food that we made meat and cheese sandwiches to take with us for lunch! The lady was so wonderful that, since my birthday also fell on marathon day (she had noticed this in my passport) she surprised me at the 5:30 am breakfast with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates. The guest house and the rooms were immaculate, the cleanest of any I've ever stayed at. Wonderful view from the balcony. High quality room furnishings. Room includes Brixen card, which gets free bus and gondola/cable car/funitel rides. Absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. An excellent value for the money and would highly, highly recommend it to any one. Would love to come back during ski season some day!
