If you like an old world feel to your B&B experience, this is the place for you!  The people who run this place do a great job making you feel at home.  Prices are reasonable.  The garden is so picturesque  The cats are friendly!  The entire town of Polizzi Generosa is an experience not to be missed.  The streets are as they were 1000 years ago.  Polizzi is set high (3009 feet above sea level) in the Madonie Mountains.  Back in the day of all the invasions, the city (pop 3500) could be easily defended.  Domenico Dolce is from this town and has a beautiful home there.  There is a wonderful museum that recently opened that contains artifacts from the different invaders.  It is a must see.  The town, its churches and its people are all typical of Sicilian country life.

Sicily has some pretty amazing hill towns, medieval jewels one almost never hears about.  And Polizzi Generosa should be at the top of your list.  And the Sciabake B&B will make your stay even more enjoyable.  It's run by a hardworking and generous couple who have thought of every amenity to make a visitor's stay as comfortable as being at home.  They have remodeled a 500 yr old house with up to date everything, including 4 private guest rooms filled with beautiful antique furniture and incredibly comfortable beds.  Each room has an ensuite bathroom with great water pressure and all the amenities.  And all at a great price, including breakfast with the family!  Their house is in the middle of an enchanting town overlooking fantastic scenery in every direction.  Close to the town center, where we did some ancestry research -- thanks to a wonderfully friendly and helpful official in the town hall -- important churches and one of the best restaurants I have experienced anywhere -- U Bagghiu.  Loved Polizzi Generosa and the Sciabake B&B!

Sissy and Phillipo were extremely generous hosts. At breakfast they were most anxious that we had everything we would have wanted to eat and offered us eggs and omelettes. 
During our 6 nights stay their warm hospitality never varied.

Polizzi Generosa, where the B&B is located, is a small town, 90 km away from Palermo, in a medieval city on the top of one of the hills. If you want to experience real Sicily, this is the place to go. It is up in the mountains and the GPS is confused, so better set it up for Piazza dei Medici than for the actual hotel address. We did not have that wisdom and  ended up in a street that was too narrow for our car. It costed us some serious scratches, but the locals were all trying to help us out.The owners of our B&B were incredibly warm and open. They fed us local specialties (home made sweets made from figs, home made goat cheese and jams). We had no idea the place was so far from Palermo and on the top of a hill, but we loved that experience and would not mind to go there again. It is great for hiking and resting away from touristic sides.

This is a lovely, homely B&B in the centre of Polizzi Generosa.  The owners were welcoming and wanted to help in any way they could.  It was very convenient for us for our hiking expeditions into the Madonie mountains.Parking nearby is difficult - we used the town car park and took the 10 minute walk to the hotel rather than battle through the one-way system and narrow streets in our hire car.As for value-for-money, I would say it was extremely expensive for what it was.

We did a last minute booking and bumped into the owners coming in. But worried that we may not have got in otherwise. After the confusion, they were more than happy to get us settled in. Did we want TV moved in- no. Brought us extra towels etc. The room was big, clean and the furniture was beautiful. Big bed- comfy. The owners advised us where to go and eat- a lot was closed due to a town fete in main square. We actually bumped into the owners in a restaurant that we decided to eat in. The rooms are sectioned off from the owner and a bit loud hearing the other guests leave for breakfast. But it was generally quiet. Good wifi and shower. Breakfast was different from the usual range offered- rustic biscuits- and a pot of coffee. We were offered cheese and bread, but declined. Although the owners couldn't speak a word of English, we got by completely fine with a lot of gesturing. My partner was also offered a tour of their house and the garden. All in all, we felt really welcomed and the hosts were generous, warm and friendly. Would recommend if in the area. 

The rooms at Sciabake are spacious and absolutely gorgeous -- beautifully decorated and wonderfully maintained. Sissi is a very thoughtful hostess. She provided me with plenty of information about the sites and great food of Polizzi Generosa, a fabulous, not-touristy mountain town accessible by bus from Palermo. The B&B is right in the heart of the town. Breakfast is served in her kitchen, where I enjoyed the company of Sissi and her husband. I had to catch a bus at 7 a.m. to Cefalu on my last morning there, and Sissi's husband drove me to the bus stop to make sure I got there on time. It's the type of personal touch that was typical of my stay there, and is much appreciated by independent travelers.

I expected parking on site but owner tried to get me to park on a street corner that almost definitely would have resulted with damage to my car from passing traffic. I refused to park there and found several spaces available down the hill. The wifi was poor in room and non existent in some areas. Its a very, very quiet town with only a couple of restaurants open. One day is plenty. Nice garden area to sit and drink a bottle of wine. Owners were quite pleasant. No fridge in room and air conditioning not working. Credit cards weren't accepted and had to pay in cash.
