Paula and her brother embrace pilgrims with a genuine enthusiasm for a mission of caring for the stranger and the traveler. Their quiet service is enough to humble the pilgrim and inspire to greater service at home when we switch places and become the host to the other, the stranger. Paula handles luggage transfers, recommendations, directions, and more with calm, quiet confidence and helpfulness. The Albergina is centrally located in San Sepolcro, making it easy fo the pilgrim to enter town, rest, and see the pleasant wonders of San Sepolcro, with its many high-quality linen shops, jewelry and book stores, and abundant restaurants, cafes, and gelaterias, and the well-recognized churches and museums. The rooms are ample, amply furnished, and very clean. The breakfast prepared for pilgrims in the morning goes beyond the standard European fare to a meal that can sustain the traveler for a good distance, including yogurt and granola, pastries, abundant fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice, and more. I suspect that Paula will be ok with our mentioning that she also had an abundant set of fixings including cheese, bread, olive oil, salad, and salami for Lunch sandwiches. Paula and her brother are also videographers and work with Luigi who zips around the area on his Vespa helping pilgrims with directions, photo-taking, and other logistics. He welcomes pictures and comments on the status of the trail, as he is assembling them in his retirement for a book, or facebook page, or who knows! The one note of discord is the loud location which, at least on a Saturday evening along a street with restaurants and entertainment, can be expected to provide enough noise to keep one awake at night if the windows are open for some of San Sepolcro’s fresh night air.
