Agriturismo Santa Chiara

I had dreamt for years about visiting Tuscany - I was worried that I had built it up too much by the time I booked this little agriturismo. I was afraid that the reality could never match what I had conjured in my head - it turned out to be quite the opposite. The family who live here and run the agriturismo have made sure that my stay was everything I ever wanted and more. From the moment we pulled into the driveway they were out the door and welcoming us, promising coffee after our long journey. We sat at a table with them drinking coffee for ages and i immediately felt like we were visiting family that we had not seen in a while. This familial feeling only increased over our stay. Over the course of our few days here we were provided recommendations about how best to enjoy the Tuscan countryside. There were other customers and friends often dropping in and each received the same treatment. I genuinely believed that everyone of these passerbys were old Friends of our hosts, and only realized that they were unknown to them after passing comments. This I believe is a testament to their nature. The food needs a section of its own. There are not enough words in the world, in any language, to describe how amazing the food was. It was cooked to perfection each night, seasoned perfectly and was a perfect representation of typical Tuscan cuisine. It is also important to mention that nearly everything we ate during our stay, including the wine, was sourced from produce that this family cultivated on their land. There was a wide variety of dishes and the sheer amount of food and portion sizes that we were provided was enough for a family of five - despite that we were only two. This agriturismo is a necessity if you are considering a stay in traditional Tuscany.
