We stayed at Case San Benedetto fifteen days - to the initial surprise of wine taster Luca Pitino, who picked us up from the bus stop on day one. "Modica? Two weeks? For what?" Well we were simply looking for some tranquility; and we found lots of it, as well as Luca's friendship (who turned out to be the most knowledgeable and friendly guide into the world of wine you can wish for). We also had great food, and some adventurous trips around the island. Hostess Mara takes great care of the place, coming by to water the plants from time to time - the case are arranged with lots of generosity (3 are renovated, 1 is still a ruin, and there are plans for a piscina..) The sea is not that close but cruising the small country roads is super nice (when you dont have pushy italians behind you). What we loved most: sit out the heat and then walk down the stairs of Modica for an apero and bite to eat... We won't forget our time here soon.
