La Locanda Degli Asinelli

I booked a night at this B&B because it was a good stop off point on my journey down from north Italy to the south on a family holiday, and the price for a family of four was the lowest on booking.com for the area. It turned out to be the highlight of the whole holiday!!! Perfect for the kids (2 & 4 year olds), goats, donkeys, cats and dogs, all friendly and stroke-able. The owner Laura is very friendly and an excellent host. The rooms are large and lovely with their own bathrooms. The view is wonderful and the grounds also. The breakfast first class. As are the fresh eggs from the chickens. The price, as I said, is the lowest in the area. You do get a cock crowing at around 6 am, as in any country abode in Italy. After 10 minutes it usually shuts up. Can't avoid the morning cockeral if you're sleeping in the country in Italy. Plenty of places nearby for lunch or dinner. Three places are recommended by the B&B, with some discounts, but I would recommend checking out Trip Advisor etc as well to find the eatery that best suits your tastes/needs. Maybe nearby on the seafront or something etc. We ate in two of the recommended places by the B&B. One in the nearby hill town of Buchianico, which is truly enchanting with amazing views over the mountains of the Aquila region. Lunched there at the recommended "Da Silvio" osteria. An incredibly beautiful restaurant, an ex monastery with vaults and a "natural" rock carved wine cellar they'll take you to visit. It was a little pricey for our budget, but an amazing location. Dinner was at the Osteria Colli, again recommend by the B&B. It was cheaper and more rustic, but we didn't warm to the owner, or maybe she didn't warm to us, which rather spoilt the dinner. La Locanda degli Asinelli is Highly Recommended.
