Albergo Europa

The location is absolutely excellent. It is right in the centre of the town next to the church, cafes, bars and restaurants and only a one minute walk to the lake. There is a clock tower very close to the hotel, which is loud and can be a bit annoying if you are trying to have a lie in, but on the whole I thought it added to the charm of the location (guests at the 5* hotel across the road will hear the noise of the clock tower too, so it isn't any fault of the accommodation). The hotel itself is basic but the rooms are very clean and the bedding/towels are changed everyday. The only negative is that the pillows were very uncomfortable, it felt like sleeping on a sandbag and the first night's sleep was terrible. We used some soft cushions for the rest of the stay and slept very well - I would definitely recommend taking your own pillow if you can! But that was literally the only negative. You get what you pay for - it depends what your expectations are and what you are used to. If (like me) you look for good value and clean accommodation in an excellent location this is superb! Bellagio is a beautiful place and this hotel is a great base to explore. I never spend much time in the hotel wherever I go as I like to go out and explore so the fact that it was basic was fine for me - I just need somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep and wash, which this hotel provides. Positives: - Excellent location - Clean - Friendly staff - the staff don't speak the best English but were all very friendly. - Good breakfast and coffee - wifi (ask for the password at reception) - air conditioning Negatives: - Pillows that felt like sandbags
