Friars Lodge

We enjoyed our stay at Friar's Lodge. There is a private parking lot, so the car was close and safe. Our room was large and clean. The lodge is conveniently located, so getting to restaurants or shops is easy and quick. They provided a powerful hair dryer also, which was nice. Breakfast was delicious and filling.

My wife and I and 2 of our granddaughters, aged 7 and 9 stayed at Friars Lodge in a family room for 1 night in early January. Our room was huge and spotless. Private, free car parking with an easy walk to downtown beautiful Kinsale. The breakfast was fantastic and every member of the staff was very nice. If you're looking for a great B&B at a fair rate in Kinsale, look no further.   

Such an amazing place to stay in Kinsale. The room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was amazingly delicious. But the best part was the staff. Maureen, the owner even mailed us a forgotten item to our next overnight stop!! Mary seemed to be there to help at all hours of day and night! Can’t recommend more highly 

Maureen hosted a group of 15 of us last weekend and each one of us commented on what a fabulous B&B it was. Situated within a 2 minute walking distance of the heart of Kinsale this B&B us spotlessly clean, the rooms and bathrooms were so spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was top class and everyone working there was so friendly. I will definitely return to this B&B and would highly recommended it. This B&B is excellent value for money. Thanks for having us Maureen. 

I stayed with my husband and 10 month old baby in Friar's Lodge. The room was huge and very clean despite that it's a pet friendly hotel. There was ample room for our travel cot. We couldn't hear any other guests and there's safe parking onsite.

All the facilities were provided including coffee station & ironing table and the breakfast was generous and delicious.

It's located in the centre of town and best of all, I accidentally left my dress in the wardrobe. Maureen took my address and the dress arrived two days later. 

I'm very grateful to Maureen and all the friendly staff who made our stay a very pleasureable experience. 

We stayed at the Friar’s Lodge at the end of July. I highly recommend a stay here!  The rooms are quite comfortable and the staff are all friendly and greet you with a smile!  The Lodge is located within easy walking distance of the downtown restaurants, shops, and harbor.

Pet friendly, great breakfast, private parking, large clean, very comfortable rooms, lift. Central location. Fabulous staff. Well worth every penny and highly recommend. Kettle, hair dryer, iron, Netflix, Wi-Fi in room. Very quiet.

Our second visit to this lovely bed and breakfast. Maureen and the team made us very welcome. There is excellent parking on site, comfortable room, lift/elevator to give easy access with heavy luggage, good Wi-Fi in room, lounge and breakfast room. Lots of choice at breakfast and all well cooked and served fresh. The lodge is in the heart of Kinsale but on a quieter back street, giving good access to the many local hospitality and retail businesses and also a little separation. 

We had our dog with us and she loved the lodge. Obviously not allowed at breakfast, but otherwise she was able to enjoy her stay. The best walks are a short drive or long walk, such as at James Fort or Charles Fort, with her favourite beach being Garylucas beach about 5 miles away. 

Stupidly, I left an item behind. It was efficiently found and returned, which was greatly appreciated.

Nothing fancy here.  Just simple, clean, and surprisingly spacious accommodations.  The innkeeper was quite lovely and you are within walking distance of everything you will want to see while in Kinsale.  No hesitation in a hearty recommendation.

The Friar's Lodge is a perfect European style hotel with very large, clean rooms in a perfect walkable location in the pretty colorful harbor town of Kinsale. We received a very friendly welcome even though we arrived as a later check-in after a long drive. It is in a  perfect walkable location in Kinsale with easy free parking and a Full Irish Breakfast including a delicious bowl of fresh fruit and porridge with Baileys. All the ladies who work there are very nice. The blue mint hard candy in the hallways was a nice treat. The Friar's Lodge is a very reasonably priced great option in Kinsale. No wonder Rick Steve's recommends it!

Great place to stay in Kinsale

Wonderful B&B in beautiful Kinsale!

I was lucky enough to secure a room on the busy Jazz Weekend. 
Friar’s Lodge is perfectly located in the centre of town which meant the car was parked up for our stay. 
We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival and our room was spacious and bright, overlooking the town of Kinsale. 
The facilities are all you’d expect in a room along with the most amazingly comfortable bed and lovely linen and towels. It’s probably been a few years since the décor was refreshed but it doesn’t take from the stay in any way. 
Our buffet breakfast was faultless and a great selection to suit all tastes. 
Friars Lodge is definitely a place I’d recommend to stay to enjoy Kinsale and all it has to offer.

We had a lovely stay in the lodge. A family run, excellently located gem in kinsale. 

The room was very spacious and bright. Plenty of parking at the rear of the lodge. We had lovely welcome from Mary at reception. 

Couldn’t fault the breakfast or anything else for that matter. 

Would strongly recommend!! We will be returning.

Beautiful stay.

Stayed here for one night and having stayed in several places in Kinsale I hadn't heard of this place and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise. Central location, big comfy and absolutely spotless rooms, with kettle, tea, coffee, iron, ironing board, smart TV and big bathroom. Quiet location and had a great night's sleep. Leaflets and books in room on places to see and eat. Overall highly recommend and Maureen the host who has worked there for 20+ years was welcoming and full of local knowledge. Will be back !
