Lissyclearig Thatched Cottage

My daughter and I stayed for two nights at this lovely cottage and absolutely adored the charm of the place.  Carmel made us feel welcome and the full Irish breakfast was really tasty.  Carmel made us a pot of tea and biscuits when we arrived and it was so special.  We also loved meeting her sheepdog, Rocky.  What a sweetie!  Carmel also gave us great tips for places to hear live music, dine and eat as well as stunning sights along the Ring of Beara.  We felt very at home and welcomed.  We would definitely stay there again.

This lovely cottage really gave what I believe to be a true Irish experience. Carmel greeted us at the door with such a warm welcome. The Irish breakfast was wonderful and the gardens were just beautiful. I would stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you Carmel for a wonderful stay!

A very unique iconic place. If you can, ask the owner how it was built. Its impressive. 

The place is very well placed for the Ring of Beara and the town of Kenmare. 

The hosts friendly, down to earth and v helpful.

This little BnB is so whimsical and absolutely darling! So many creative touches in and around the house. Felt like something out of a fairy tale! The room was cozy and comfortable and breakfast was delicious. Located just outside Kenmare and 15-20 minute drive up into Killarney National Park to Moll's Gap and Ladies' View. Curvy mountain roads, but absolutely breathtaking views!!!

Lissyclearig Cottage is a home-away-from-home; from the minute I arrived my attention was drawn to the amazing garden, flowers and magical hidden features (not to mention the thatch). The journey continued inside with the hand-crafted stone and woodwork throughout decorated with features of the local area and shelves full of fishing tropies.

The rooms are lovely and private and you will wake up to the smell of the delicious homemade breakfast wafting up the stairs. Only 3 miles from Kenmare Lissyclearig is a must for those travelling to Kerry! Carmel and Davey are so welcoming, I didn't want to leave!

This house is what every Irish person wished they lived in.  A real beautiful house inside and out, and the owners are just as beautiful.  While the photos are fabulous,  they cannot capture the incredible detail and craft of the build and furnishings of this perfectly quaint cottage. 
I will definitely be returning for another visit, and highly recommend it as the No 1 place to stay in Kenmare

I have found the benchmark of accomodation, hospitality and beauty. This is the most amazing stay we have ever experienced in any country around the world. On arrival, straight away a festival for the eyes. The craftsman ship, creativity and imagination of the hosts embraces you like you belong there already. The stonework and rainbow of flowers are just the first of the treats to behold. Greeted at the half door by the most wonderful hosts we have ever met, your head will not stop turning. In every nook and around every corner is a master piece crafted and carefully thought out by Davy, Carmel and Niamh, possibly the most naturally talented and welcoming people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the Valentia Slate mirrors to the hand made stone fireplaces and the quirky art. This cottage welcomes you to be part of the family. The finest of homecooked food (Carmel's Portercake is outstanding) is enjoyed at tables and chairs again made by the hand of the man himself. We ate in a glow of awe at everything. All three are fountains of knowledge and where they suggest for you to visit, you should go because we had two of the best days we could ever hope to have had. So after enjoying a wonderful night at ease with local people and enjoying a drop ;) we get to return to the most comfortable of beds, the frames of which were made by the man himself again. Beautiful breakfast in the morning and again gifted with the best of advice on what to see next. 'The Ring of Beara lads!! They grow their own veg, catch their own fish amd steal your bloody heart. I will never accept you have seen Kerry unless you have stayed at Lissyclearig Thatched Cottage because you won't have. Please see the pictures!!

We had a wonderful time with Carmel in this beautiful thatched cottage. The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. We were able to stretch our legs by walking into town and back. Breakfast was delicious! Highly recommended!

This is a cottage where fairytales begin. Adorable thatched roof cottage hidden down  the flower laden driveway. This was a must stay on our trip to Ireland. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, hearty, Irish fare. The cottage is a short drive from Kenmare. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back.

Fairytales 

Let me be very clear, this is not an old thatched cottage, it was built after 2000, as we drove up it looked just as described but things went down hill from there.  It was built by the owners as a hook to encourage it above other B & B's which I have no problem with, but not built very well. The rooms were extremely noisy, we heard every step above us and outside our door.  The place was built quite amateurishly, they added more filler by the shower with no proper smoothing, a great place to gather dirt and who knows what. As it is only 35 Euro per person I overlooked the shabby bedding but making the mistake of heading into the kitchen which was not very clean was unpleasant. It also requires a drive to anywhere which one must consider if heading to the pub.
