This hotel really cannot make it. 
Rooms smelled mouldy.
Plenty of flies/slug/ spider in the room, think I sprayed almost half a can of insecticide. 
Badly maintained furniture in the room.
Toilet even worse, tap not aligned to the sink so it flows out into the sink top and out of the pipe under the basin as well. Mould surrounded the bathtub area. 
Limited breakfast option, pineapple served was already rotten. 
Hotel area not fully sheltered with plenty of steps which pose a big problem on rainy days. 
Steps into the pool are slippery. 

This is the 1st time I can’t wait to leave a hotel as soon as possible. 

Unhygienic mouldy rooms

Samosir Cottage Hotel is a lovely hotel with magnificent views across Lake Toba. The rooms are very comfortable, the food is excellent (beware the really large portions when you order). Staff is very helpful, they even made sure i got a complete breakfast even though I had to leave very early.

Clean and well-located hotel in the middle of Tuktuk

The location and the view is beautiful, not so many nice and good hotel in this island; therefore, this hotel consider the good one. 

The facilities is average, except the swimming pool is next to the lake.  Breakfast is average, don't expect to much. 

The view is great, especially from the upper floor.

Hotel with Outstanding View of Toba Lake

The view is unbeatable, breathtaking, unbelievable. We booked 7 rooms, including the top cottages villa. The view is much more breathtaking from this cottage villa, because it’s the highest room. But, the staff especially front office girl and boy not helping and very very not friendly. Zero in communication. My room is also not prepared dan cleaned when i check in; there’s leftover food waste in the refrigerator covered by FUNGI. Brilliant. Maybe because there’s too much room but less standard and staffs. Hopefully you guys fix it, be better.

Ketolong sama View nya..😵‍💫

I stayed in this place for 4 nights, the room is big and located in the heart of the Tuktuk area. You can take the boat directly from Parapat to the hotel. Debora, the front office staff was really responsive and helpful. They have 2 swimming pools and rooms that face directly to the lake. I strongly recommend you to come in summertime (April to August) since it will be cloudy around the lake when the rainy season come

Things that need to be improved is the variety of breakfast. It would be better if they change the breakfast menu every day.

Stay one night for business trip. The room was big and clean. No telephone in room so I had to walk to the receptionist multiple times. It has a lot of stairs and not really wheelchair friendly. 
This hotel is quite big with 3 swimming pools. I think they just had renovations and the hotel feels well-maintained. The entrance gate is small but parking lot is spacious. There are a lot of restaurants selling western (pizza & pasta) and local food not far from the hotel.

Nice view, clean room

My partner and I were unhappy not having hot water for our showers during the evening. Also, the breakfast counter always had flies landing on the food. The staff there could not speak english thus had a hard time understanding us.

The positive points were the swimming pools overlooking the ocean and that the room was clean.

Good location, unsatisfactory experience

A hotel which must have been stunning at its prime . Let down by poor maintenance, the property is in much need of an upgrade. Nevertheless, the view was besutiful and the rooms though dated were clean.

Beautiful surroundings,dated property

I was informed by my agent that Samosir Cottage is one of the best resort on the island. We were really looking forward to our stay. We are glad that we are only there for one night.

1. The sewage hold in the bathroom is not covered and gave off a very bad smell to the room.

2. The water from the shower is burning hot and could not be adjusted.

3.breakfast was really bad. There were 3 or 4 staple food. Fried rice, fried noodles and fried bee hoon. Noodles is so salty that we could not eat. We end up going to a nearby cafe to have our breakfast.

The management needs to look into maintaining the resort. The state of the resort is in such pathetic state and it's not doing justice to the beautiful scenery. 

Will never never return to this place again

First but Last

There's nice facilities and room. However, it's a little poorly maintained. Room is big and spacious, so is the bathroom, but there are spider webs on the bathroom ceiling, couldn't help but wondered how long since they last cleaned the ceiling. Supposedly this is the best resort in Samosir island. Well, couldn't imagine what other resort with lesser stars would be. Dinner buffet was good, but very limited variety for breakfast.
