The Red Mud Chalet

Staying in The Red Mud Chalet is a wonderful experience for me. The scenic beauty is awesome. Specially seeing Kanchanjangha from the lawn is mesmerizing. Sohamda and Janvi are very nice person. After seeing Janvi I can recall my memories of reading Solitary Reaper written by famous romantic poet William Shakespeare. I can compare Janvi with a highland lass who is very dedicated about her work. I will remember my whole life the dishes like rui macher jhol, dimer kosha, dal, jhuri alubhaja, chicken kosha, chatni cooked by Janvi. Sohamda and Janvi are so cooperative. We played badminton in the lawn. I enjoyed very much the swing of the lawn very much. Thank you charlet for everything. I will suggest everyone to visit Hee Bermiok atleast once in a lifetime.

We were late in reaching this place due to flight cancelation and were apprehensive about this place finding it dark from the main road.
But upon reaching and checking in we were in for a big surprise, Mr Joy Das the manager took care of every needs and went out of way to arrange anything if it was missing ably assisted by Manasha the cook cum man friday.
Really enjoyed the stay along with the hospitality specially extended to my 78 year old mom.

One of the best hotels I have visited. Great for family and has a good area. It is well maintained and the food there is superb. I rate it five star and if there was more stars to rate I would rate it even more. Has a good view of the mountains and can see the sunrise very clearly. It is close to many historical heritages of Sikkim. It is a good place for tourists.

I stayed in this place for 4 days. This place is secluded from busy destinations. If you want to just go  and relax and explore on foot, this is the place you should go for. 

Location:
I drove myself to this place. This hotel is right on the main road. And very easy to locate. The surrounding is very calm. Very less traffic.  In fact, this small village is very less populated. There is a Car parking area above. You need to drive up hill to park. And after that some more stairs to reach the reception.

Rooms:
The rooms were basic. But had large windows. It has hot water all the time. But that is subject to electricity. Geysers wont work with the power backup.
Enough blankets were there in rooms and also room heaters.

Ourside:
Mt. Khangchendzonga is visible from the anywhere from the Chalet. In the top floor of the Chalert, there is a observatory from where the mountain view is unobstructed. That is the place where we went to see the stunning mountain lighting up in red and orange color during sunrise. 
Almost everynight we had bon fire to beat the cold. It was amazing to sit in front of bon fire and see the clear sky. In fact if the night sky is clear, the snow cladded mountain will light up in moon shine.
A nice lawn is there where kids can play. One can have morning tea etc there as well.

Food:
Food is okay and is on the the Menu. Pricing wise it is little higher on some off the items. Otherwise it is all home cooked and to a good satisfaction of taste.

WiFi:
Wifi is slow. Barun had JIO, which worked at a slow speed. But it worked.
Airtel data is very very slow.

Home for a week and
 a room with a view... 
During the Nepali festive days of 'Dasai' every year, a child living with his family in the faraway capital city of Sikkim state, Gangtok, paid his annual visit to his ancestral village Rato Matey, literally red mud. With a degree in the discipline of Botany, and a post graduation from Delhi University, followed by a stint in a corporate house in Bangalore, that little boy, Mr Barun Sharma, came back to his ancestral village, and gave shape to a dream...blessed by his parents, ably supported by his  banker brother Basu, cousins Indira, a MA, BEd, MEd teacher in a local school she runs with brother Dwipen, after having being educated and having taught in Mumbai, and Laxmi, a service holder, and Yogesh...Thus was born 'Rato Matey Kothi', nestled in the green...bathed in the gold of the sun and the silver of the Himal... Providing earning opportunities for local youth, generating environmental awareness...and, a seat for connecting with oneself.

I stayed for 5 days and now I feel relaxed with a peace in mind. In the morning when I woke you, the views from the resort was mesmerizing and breath taking. The view of Kanchenjunga so near and the huge statues of Buddha and with all the dew drops and mountain hiding behind the clouds and fogs. 
The owner of the resort Mr. Barun Sharma was a knowledgeable person and his hospitality was excellent. Every single day, there was not even a moment to say "bored". He took me to a place called  "Resum Gumpa" for a trek. I stunned to see that place and speechless. So for all to see and wants experience,  I should say don't think and just go for it.

We stayed overnight at this hotel and woke up to a breathtaking Sunrise early in the morning. From the top deck of the hotel one can see the sunrise on Kanchenjunga and a 270 degree view of the Himalayan range. The property is mid-sized may be with 10-12 rooms. They have a beautiful garden in the courtyard to spend some blissful time in the morning and the staff is very friendly. The food quality is good. Place is owned and managed by a family having young team on the floor and they really take crae of the guests. It is in very close proximity to Pelling and hence is an ideal place to visit Monasteries and other tourism locations.

Me and my friends visited the Resort last week and it was just an amazing experience for us. Away from the hustle and bustle of cities, the Resort is located at a perfect place with a classic view of many mountains including Mt. Kanchendzonga. We also went for a short hiking in the forest nearby for relaxation and peace of mind. The staffs and the Proprietor himself Mr. Barun Sharma was very friendly and that made our stay more comfortable. The food was good and after staying there, I can tell that if you are looking for a paradise amidst nature, it's The Red Mud Chalet...

Best view from this location, excellent stay at this place. Staffs were friendly and helpful providing us all the requirements and guiding us throughout the stay. If you want to find a peaceful place, this would be the best location.

An extraordinary place to stay!!!

Excellent Stay

We planned our trip at Kaluk Red Mud Chalet during 20th to 27th October, 2021 after checking its review, remarks in TripAdvisor. Mr. Subrato Biswas, the business manager of the property (taken on lease I believe) quoted the price for stay and meals. We accepted the same instantly and remitted the token advance of INR 10,000/-. Later on just before few days of our trip, the entire sum of INR 57,500/- (including the car charges) was sent to Mr. Subrato Biswas's account. However, subsequently, due to cloud burst and landslide in Sikkim, the news of road block and red alerts were  received by us at the day of arriving into Bagdogra airport. Mr. Biswas, didn't even bother to inform us about the road block and couldn't send the cab to the airport (although it was fully advanced). We had to move to Siliguri and arrange for our own stay , which triggered more cost from our pocket. The next day, he was supposed to send the cab to us in the morning, which got delayed and never turned up till 3 pm. Ultimately, we had to cancel the booking and take the detour to Sittong, North Bengal for next 6 days. We had a lot of argument with him for cancellation and requested for amicable settlement/refund. However, he was completely rude and adamant. He dragged the matter unnecessarily. Finally, after almost 40 days, he assured us the refund in writing for food only. He took the cancellation charges @ 100% for all seven days and didn't even bother to discuss. Thereafter, 10 days have been passed but the refund hasn't been received in my account. He didn't respond to the calls and seems to be a fraud business manager. Never ever visit this place or book it if you're planning to travel with family. This sort of person is a criminal and doesn't have the basic ethics of business. He stays out of Kolkata, else we could have dragged him into the Court or Police Station for appropriate legal action.  I'm offering just 1 star as the website doesn't allow zero rating....
