We enjoyed  amazing odia food with my friends before I hadn't in puri, so very nice &  it is very famous for seafood in puri ,so I recommend all come &enjoy all Indian, Chinese &tandoori dishes, overall awesome. 

An excellent and fully equipped resort which is super comfortable. Located in an excellent place and built really well. The staff and management is very kind to guests. If you are up for an adventure Wild Grass Resorts can provide for all types of water sports or a full day boat ride to an uninhabiated island around or a day of fishing and snorkelling in the water. They have got it all. I enjoyed my time at Wild Grass Resort and I recommend it to other travellers as well.

There couldn’t have been a better place to runaway to! Escaping the hustle of our routine lives, I found my much required hideout at the Wild Grass Resort in a rather undiscovered gem of Andamans, Chidiya Tapu!

Right from some of craziest private parties, to thrilling experiences like diving and snorkelling, and even game fishing, this place has it covered! I just had to arrive, and I knew I was taken care of.

The Baath’s are what makes the place what it is. One never gets enough of listening to Commander Baath’s enthralling stories, each more gripping and inspiring than the other! Mona’s warmth and handcrafted details add such a charm to place. Their sons Karan, Aman & Nishant are the best hosts, local tour guides and the most fun companions for every trip to the sea. They’ll go out of their way to ensure you’ve had the best time! Can’t wait to visit again 💙

Away from the hustle bustle and the concrete jungle of Port Blair, this place will surely make your holidays a special one. The personalised attention of the resort staffs and the beautiful views of sunset from the beaches will make you fall in love woth this place. The professional naturalists and diving guides are an added advantage for best birding and water adventures.

Wild Grass is a resort on the southern tip of the main island. It is set in a
wild life sanctuary called Chidia Tapu (or bird island). It is perfect
for a getaway from the busy life of the city. There is a dining area
with a superb view of the surrounding mountains. The mountains seem to
be piled on top of each other and layered because of subtle colour differences
caused by distance. Although our hosts seem to be quite okay with trekking
through the jungles, we did not try it after hearing their stories of getting
lost in the thick jungles surrounding the resort.

We did take on a milder adventure-trekking to the top of the lighthouse
mountain in the company of a guide. Although there are trails leading
up to the lighthouse, one can get lost, since trails merge and it is not
easy to keep track of the trail one came on. If you go without a guide
you need to mark your trail with something more durable than the bread
crumbs described in the Hansel and Gretel story. The views of the sea and the
mountains from the top are spectacular. Most striking is the southern most
tip where a large chunk of island broke away from the mainland during the
Boxing day tsunami of 2004. There are now two islands where there
was one before.

The family that runs the
resort is very much into the aquatic sports, sailing, fishing, snorkeling
and diving. Our hosts took us snorkeling to a bay near Rutland island. The
island is uninhabited and the corral reef and marine life in the bay
have to be seen to be believed. Quite unspoilt.

We visited at the end of October 2017, just before the season begins. At
this time of year the weather tends to be uncertain. Since the ferries
between islands can often be cancelled due to bad weather, we stayed
on the main island where the airport is so as not to miss our return flight.
In fact, despite our hosts best efforts we were not
able to go diving as each time we fixed a day, the weather was inclement,
the sea rough and the underwater visibility poor. The best time to
go diving would be during the season (November onwards) so that one is
not hampered by the unpredictable island weather.

The food in the resort was delicious and prepared and served by
third generation Bengali immigrants, displaced by the 1947
partition. The staff were very friendly and eager to serve. They are also
killers at billiards, since they spend free time honing their skills
at the billiard table next to the dining room.

The family that owns the resort-Commander Bhaath (ex-Navy),
his wife and three sturdy sons were great company. One of the most memorable
holidays, we have had.

A few more tips:

the seas in the Andamans are perilous because of
sharks and salt water crocodiles. You need experienced guides if you venture
in. The hosts at wild grass were perfect guides combining caution with
adventure in well judged proportion.

Switch off your mobiles. They don't work very well in the Andaman islands
and you will discover the joys of a mobile free vacation.

Intertidal Walk: Another great activity organised by Reef Watch,
an NGO near Wild Grass
is the intertidal walk. A marine biology student walked us through the
region between the high and low tide, explaining how life adapts
to the circumstances. Very educational. But for our guide, we would
have missed all the nuances of life between the tides.

Biological Park: there is also a biological park nearby and you
can see the dreaded salt water crocodiles (estuarine crocodiles)
from a safe distance.

Beaches: the best beaches in the Andamans (we are told) are in Havelock island, which
we did not visit.  Chidiatapu is not the best choice for beaches. Ross island (20 minute
ferry from Port Blair) has a great scenic beach, but swimming there is not allowed, nor even advisable.

Had a great time, and a comfortable stay. The room was neat and clean, food was very tasty (Fish fingers was the best). We had a secluded dinner with friends and family under the full moon night. 5 mins away you can see the wonderful sunset by the water. We took a fishing boat out during the day, and had a great experience catching many fish, also stopping by at a secluded coast for snorkeling. Overall had a great time, and would recommend this place to anyone visiting this part of the Andamans.

My wife and I have stayed here more than on two occasions, spending time in two different types of accommodation and enjoying the quiet. Chidyatapu is one of the quietest locations in the Andamans that is normally filled with tourists of all hues, noises and aromas. Wild Grass gave us the very necessary serenity, light sea breeze, quiet and comfort. Commander Baath, Mona and their sons run this place. They are old hands in the Andamans so are quite in the know of reality and expectations. This place provided us with our requirements and we were really able to unwind and get back to our real senses after fairly grueling work and travel schedules. The food is best from the tandoor, get yourselves cold beer and enjoy the light sea breeze, the greenery of a forest spread beyond the fences, typical sweet water coconuts of the Andamans and good company that is not loud, boisterous and mean- typical of the rest of the tourist outfits and regions in the Andaman Islands. If you want sufficient-and are not the pacific island picture looker- looking for quiet, sufficient and peaceable environs, go here and enjoy yourselves and the sights and sounds of Chidiyatapu and Wild grass.

This place is beautiful, the staff are lovely and the location is also great. Unfortunately, hygiene is not their priority. I stayed for 4 nights in December 2022, and on my last night found bed bugs in my bed. I showed the bugs and bloodstains on the bedsheet to the caretaker, who changed my room. A few days after I left Wild Grass, I found that my entire luggage had been infested. As I was still travelling, I had to get every single item of clothing and suitcase completely cleaned by professional laundry. Not to mention, I am covered in welts and scabs. Stay away. One of the worst experiences I've had travelling ever. The owners' response when I reported the issue to them was simply denial -- even though I had shown their staff the bugs before leaving. Unbelievable, and just horrible. Other issues were that the first room I was put in, the ceiling was leaking. And there is no wifi in the rooms. These I would have not complained about given the location is so remote. But the bed bugs. Really, truly, horror movie.

Bed Bugs - stay away

I went there with a friend of mine. They will charge you a good amount of money for a place which is not even worth 2000 rs. Their are no intercoms in the rooms, even if you need a water bottle you will need to step out of your room and walk to the restraunt. In short a pathetic place to stay. If you are reading this comment never ever stay at this place.

Pathetic place to stay

We are a couple from the UK in our seventies. We had a confirmed pre-paid booking through Expedia but were refused entry.  The Manager Mr Ganapati Roy said he was full leaving us stranded in a remote place which had no phone signal or internet connection at the time. He was completely unapologetic & unhelpful (unlike most other Andamanese) & did not care what happened to us. We were very shocked, anxious & upset at suddenly being expected to find other accommodation & we did not have sufficient local currency. Later another employee in Chidyatapu tried to be helpful,  & explained the situation - thank you Karan.
