Hotel Sheetalam

At first when we traveled to Shitlakhet, we were a little skeptical about the hotel and the choice of the location itself. But then, we convinced ourselves to stay overnight and get the hell out of there the immediate morning! To stay overnight, was the BEST decision we took on the trip! We were coming off 3 days at Nainital, having soaked ourselves in the immense treasure of nature that the place threw upon us. We were convinced by a shopkeeper as well that there's nothing better in the whole of Kumaon range than Nainital! We felt betrayed, not by his words, but by our own selves to have chosen any place to visit after seeing Nainital. Since we had already made a partial payment for the property, we persuaded the rest to go to Sitlakhet. It was a long and tedious journey for us, thanks to our weary souls and dropping spirits. What Sitlakhet gave us, was a reason to believe, and not to believe. To believe that your journey and your destination can be more fascinating than where you actually are, and also, not to believe anything any other random person says(in this case the random shopkeeper). The rooms were splendid, clean to the last atom probably. Though the rooms were cold, the comforters kept telling us "Hey! what are we here for?". It was THAT cozy. While the sun was setting in the west it cast on the beautiful Himalayas, which by the way is visible from the balcony on the top floor, a magical golden glow! The caretaker/cook/manager of the property promptly took the dinner order and cooked an amazing feast, like a cherry on top! The night skies from the balcony and the faint silhouette of the Himalayas under the moon is a sight I could behold any day. Thanks a lot Hotel Sheetalam and Shitlakhet, you indeed are a reason why one should not judge a book by its cover!
