Located about 25 km from Airport and 8 km from Howrah railway station, this is not at all a bad place to stay for a couple of days. Rooms are big with good amenities . Located in a bit noisy location though . Bathroom facilities could be improved . Breakfast is good 

Nice residence within budget

Since I had to visit the Victoria Memorial Hall, I wanted a hotel close to this museum and I wanted a budget hotel. I found Malik Guest House the best choice. It is looks more like an apartment block rather than a hotel. The Harish Mukherjee road is busy all day and night, traffic, people and shops...I was staying on the fifth floor and once you go up to your room, it is quiet and serene out there. The hotel staff are helpful and the service is quick. I was happy to spend a couple of days there. I wouldn't mind going back there again.

Malik Guest House is at the heart of the city

It was a good experience. Everything was nice. Food choice was limited. Centrally located. Best budget stay.

Very good for budget night stay.

Good place to stay , not had any food . It's very close to all other things like market, shops , eating joints , metro , we stays for 6th and 7th March 2017 , with my daughter , mom and my wife . Very nice stay . 

Family stay 

A budget accommodation in a central location of Kolkata with neat and clean surroundings. For early morning tea, one will have to go outside, as there is no in house all time tea facility.Also only care it requires to reach the Guest House is 'one way after 1 PM' of the Harish Mukherjee Road and Metro rail availability within the walk-able distance.However, one can stay the Guest House with other requisite comfort in Indian style.

This hotel is quite conveniently located on Harish Mukherjee Road. It has about 30 rooms with 4 suites.The hotel does not have services like travel desk, doctor on call, airport pick-up/drop etc. It has a small dining area and room service is available.The hotel offers free wifi and has sufficient parking area. Check out time is 11 am.

We had booked two suites and a/c in one of the room was not working. After lot of follow up we were offered a standard room in lieu without any refund for the difference in tariff. Breakfast was offered on chargeable basis.

Going by the rates being charged, the hotel management needs to ensure better upkeep and maintenance of the rooms to give a value for money experience to the customers. The location of the hotel was the only plus during our stay.

Hotel location is the only plus!

Uber is always available within minutes. The foods from the Chinese restaurant nearby were really good and reasonable. Room service was everyday.

Convenient location

Room felt a bit expensive for the quality, but very friendly service. I couldn't get hot water to work late my first night and when I asked the next day it turned out the water heater was being replaced. They happily allowed me to switch rooms. Would have been nice if wifi was available in the rooms but at least it was accessible and working fine near the reception.

Great location, not bad for a couple days

Perhaps non-westerners have more lenient expectations of guest houses.  

Rooms are sparse, a bit grimy and well worn.  The shower head in my room was held together with duct tape and wires. Never could get hot water but with near 90 degree F  monsoon weather, lukewarm water was adequate.

 I could never log onto their wi-fi.

I was only here for a couple of hours before heading to the airport hence I can't comment on nearby eateries or conveniences.

They do have a lot of security at the gate and hotel entry.

Grubby, run down hence low price

The standard of cleanliness in this hotel is low. It is old, and grubby and little cared for. There were cockroaches in the bathroom. The wifi only works near the reception area. 
On a positive note there is a lift. The bed was large and comfortable. The aircon was not noisy and a free daily newspaper was provided. 
I would not recommend this hotel. There are others in the same price bracket far superior
