Hotel Mayura Durga

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Clean premises. Fresh Food only. Great Stay. The location is also right in front of the Fort. Located centrally one can feel at home. Have patience to get fresh food.

We went to Chitradurga to have a quiet and relaxing vacation and this kstdc hotel is perfect for that. It's just across the fort. It's away from the city. There is no noise pollution. From one side you can view the majestic fort. Another side you can see the windmills. You can really enjoy the starry night with clear sky.
 Room and bathroom was clean. Restaurant served decent homely food. Cooking is not exceptional, but we have no complaint.
Now the con:
   We didn't ask specifically for fort facing rooms. So they have given us a room which faces a inside catwalk and a stone wall.

The rooms are spacious and neat and tidy. Everything is nice. The Hotel Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I recommend everyone to stay in this beautiful hotel and relish the services. 
 The hotel is situated near the hills which gives a nice view for everyone.

Its very place to enjoy. Food was really yummy. Staff is very supporting...it's very clean and hygenic. Nice place to come with family to enjoy. It's near fort and get a nice view. Garden and everything is very nice place. Thanks to manager Shreyas.  

Located right opposite the Chitradurga Fort, Mayura Durg is the best accommodation available in Chitradurga. Though it is a Govt run Hotel by KSTDC, it is far superior than any private Hotels. Reasonably priced, with modest budget class rooms, is worth stay. The services and hospitality extended by KSTDC staff is praiseworthy. Shall recommend to all my friends.

I was pleasantly surpised by this hotel. It was very clean and well maintained. The location is wonderful - with a view of the fort, but away from the tourists. The food at the restaurant was nice too (although service is a bit slow). The manager was very accommodating with our requirements for breakfast. He even gave us a free map of Karnataka when we asked if they sell one. The outside sitting area is great for bird-watching in the mornings. We had our breakfast there, and it was very peaceful and quiet. Hot water is available through geyser; the room is air conditioned; and we did not have much issues with mosquitoes inside the room.

Had a great time at the hotel recently. Our room was handed over on time and it was extremely neat and clean and hygienic. Just walking distance from the historic fort. Ample parking space. Canteen provides good home style food unlike the highly oily and spicy food in restaurants outside. Overall a great time spent here. Highly recommended.

The staff is courteous. 

Earlier we stayed in the same place in October '2016 but it was not very good. This time we could see the transformation in this place.

It’s a decent hotel located right beside the Chitradurga fort. Rooms are neat and maintained good (but not great). If you are getting a decent place to stay at this rate, you shouldn’t be expecting a five star room as well. 

There will be “beware of snakes” boards inside the property and we actually happened to see a small snake as well. 
Breakfast is really bad with very limited and tasteless options.

Good place to stay (dont expect a lot)

Mayura Durga is a well maintained and kept property. Located at the foot of the ‘Durga Fort, it is at a convenient and walkable distance from the Fort’s entrance. 

The rooms are well equipped as per KSTDC standards. The family room is large and has sit outs on both the inner passage side and the outer garden side. The rooms were readied clean when we checked in. The staff is courteous and helpful.

Within walking distance from here is Doddapete Main road which hosts several Khanavalis, smaller of which offer home-made breakfast, lunch and dinner. One can try local special like Ragi Mudde and Saru, Jolada Rotti and Bhendekayi Chutney, Shenga Chutney etc. 

Disappointing food options at the KSDTC restaurant at Mayura Durga:

The restaurant is clean and well kept and the menu offers a wide variety. 

*Unfortunately*, the KSTDC restaurant does not serve, on weekends, the “local specials” even though it is prominent in their menu. Get this: there is no South Indian food to be found on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, when I expect the tourist footfalls to be the highest.

So, if you visit on a weekend afternoon, you will get only “North Indian” (so called North Indian) for Lunch. For dinner the South Indian Thali is available. 

But no local special from the menu is served to weekend tourists at all. 

This was very odd to us because KSTDC’s purpose is to promote local tourism (and that includes food), but somehow, in my opinion, some type of weird logic of convenience has been applied and the weekend tourist is denied local cuisine. 

I hope someone from the Mayura ‘Durga management reads this is corrects this anomaly. 

An otherwise excellent experience was hampered by the restaurant experience. 

But it was KSTDC’s loss because we ate our meals at a homely Khanavali on Doddapete Main Road

Perfect location, good rooms and staff, but poor food options

Wonderful Location

We chose this hotel as it was very close to the Chitradurga Fort. Even though its a KSTDC hotel, hotel is maintained very well. Staff is welcoming and the food is great. 

Only one inconvenience we had was the power outages which happened frequently at night. It was very disturbing and couldn't sleep well the entire night .

The coffee glasses were very dirty and not cleaned properly. Because of these 2 issues I'm reducing 5-star rating.

Nice hotel located very close to Chitradurga Fort

Hotel is very close to Chitradurga Fort. Mayura Durg is best budget hotel and it is worth the price we pay. i would definitely recommend my friends to visit. when compared to private hotels, this hotel is best and food is very delicious. It is a reasonable hotel with good staff who are at our service when required. Well sanitized and safe stay during COVID.
