Good place, near to the lake so very quiet. But the view is definitely not the same than on the picture ! Hammock on the roof top is great. 
The family was nice, breakfast was good and huge ! It’s little bit far from the center, difficult to find a place to eat. You’ll need a rickshaw

Good place

We only stayed at blue Lilly lake one night, the rooms may not be the most luxurious but it's really cheap and is nice enough to enjoy a short stay. The staff were really friendly and easy going, nice hippie vibes going on. There's a lovely roof terrace with hammocks and a nice view of the backwaters too. If you're travelling round a lot on a budget I'd say for the price Blue Lilly Lake does the job, it's not exactly five star but the family there are lovely and very welcoming. 

Friendly, cheap, does the job

The linen are old, curtains very dirty. The overall cleanliness of the place is slightly under. It's located well and the building itself is good enough but just not given thought for the comfort of guest.

The host are not that welcoming. They'll smile only after you buy beers and their houseboat tickets.

They have their houseboat but I saw some site mentioning spa and other facilities. That's not the case.

Only plus was the terrace with lot of chairs and comfy beds facing the lake.

That too the owner will abruptly turn the lights off. You have to remove your footwear at the steps before entering the terrace of the hotel building. I hope they can change that. It's very unfriendly for a hotel to do that.

They told us they don't have a kitchenette apart from their family kitchen.

Maybe not

Bottomline: Don't stay here if you're charged a dime more  than Rs 500 per day .And don't book any rides/tours from here of you value your money, time and quality of experience. 

 The photos given here are a huuuge misrepresentation. I booked a "King size lake room" for two days for which I paid 4200 per day. here on booking.com. The pictures depict the room oversees a lake and there is a clear view of the lake from the room. 

The room is actually quite small and ordinary. There was no regulator for the fan. No geyser...water pressure is unpredictable in the  washroom .Don't expect any toiletries.

There is a common balcony (shared with the hall room) which is indeed next to the water canal which flows through Alleppey. But you'll never get to see anything as there will always be houseboats parked in front of you. The pictures don't show that!

There is apparently a 24/7 front desk. The desk was empty most of the time we were there. No one to reach out to most of the time.

Apparently you can book houseboats, canoes etc from here. Every offer quoted by these people was overpriced. I requested the front desk guy (I'm assuming he's the manager) to let me know the price for an individual houseboat, where we wished to stay overnight, the price quoted by him was 12000 and he said he   was giving us a discount as we were already staying at the property. I then enquired outside and realised much better individual houseboats were available for 10k. Definitely enquire about prices outside, you'll find plenty of options of you take a short walk on the main road... and avoid paying for any services here.

I came across an American couple in the same area, who were having a major argument with their boat owner there. They told me they had been charged 7k for a two hour boat ride and the boat captain was picking up every passenger on the way.! They warned me not to book rides from anyone in the area.

The pictures  depict a very active community area on the rooftop and/or an active dining area where you can probably get good local food. The rooftop was secluded, old plastic chairs and tables barely dusted. Few mattresses  for people to sit on. An old carrom board.  No sign of dinner/ lunch anywhere, no menu.

The WiFi password never worked. They had never offered to provide it themselves. We had to ask them for it.

I urge all readers to learn from our experience and stay clear of this place and not get duped.

Please stay away if you value your money, time and quality of experience

We stayed in early February 2018 for two nights, and had booked a deluxe double room with extra bed.

When we arrived we were given a small room with one bed and no explanation or change in price. 

The openable window by the bed had large bars that a person could fit through, and opened out onto an outdoors metal staircase that people frequently used to access the roof. 

This meant we could not use the window at the night, as it was noisy, unsafe and we had no privacy.

The room itself is not well equipped, as there was no bin, wardrobe or any storage is provided, and the toiletries mentioned on the site are not provided either. 

There is no window in the bathroom, which makes it stink of damp constantly. The mineral water dispenser in the communal area was full of strange smelling water that was not clear or clean.

Blue lily does not have WiFi as promised, nor do they have functioning showers. When we asked if there was an issue with the shower or if it would be fixed, we were told to use a bucket.

The bed itself is very hard and uncomfortable. They did not use a groundsheet on the mattress, but used two children's blankets on the bed.

The host was rarely inside the property or available for help - we saw him once at the homestay during our two nights. He ignored any messages sent to him on whatsapp.

According to the website and they have 24/7 reception, but the door was frequently locked as no one was ever around.

The only nice thing about the stay is that we met some lovely people while staying there, and the boat tour that was being advertised by the host was a nice day out.

When we completed our stay the host then cancelled our stay on booking.com so that we could not provide a review.

Would definitely not stay again or recommend it to anyone. There are much cheaper and better places in Allepey.
