We stayed here for the two first nights of our 2 weeks-long trip and we loved it. It simply felt like home. Nice rooms, very clean and quite spacious. Well refurbished kitchen and big living room. Our host were nice and very helpful as they gave us a map of the area and many suggestions on what to visit -they know their business. Amazing Sunday breakfast (as well as the other days, just more pastries:)). Surely one of the best guesthouse we have been during our stay.

We were greeted by the owner who has a dry sense of humour which may explain some early reviews where his wit has been lost in translation.  
He takes pride in his business is genuinely interested in all his guests and will offer advice on how to spend their time.
The building itself is modern and very clean, basic but  comfortable.  But it is let down by its design and we suspect it was not meant to be a guesthouse.  The internal walls and doors are all standard with little or no sound insulation.  The result is can mean you have a noisy stay and may be woken by other guests who get up early. As others have mentioned there is only one shower which is in a family bathroom which also has the luxury of a full size bath. The downside if any of these are on use then the other 2 can't be used. There's really plenty of space here so it might be a good idea to take out the bath which is unlikely to be used and put in another shower room.
With such busy toilets an air freshener spray really should be available in the toilets!  
Breakfast is ok but pre prepared with supermarket ingredients. Maybe we were spoilt in the West Fjords with fresh made bread , home-made skyr and local berries. ..

There is a lounge area and well equipped kitchen for guest use.

With the cost of accommodation elsewhere  so high in the area it's maybe best to prepare for the imperfections of  and enjoy your stay  

The town itself is charming and is well worth a visit , it has a number of cafés & restaurants as well as a modern swimming pool with naturally fed hot tubs at 3 different temperatures

Really enjoyed our stay here. Quiet and peaceful. Spotlessly clean. Pleasant and helpful hosts. Nice common room. Shared bathroom had both bathtub and shower. Great breakfast available - reasonably priced and there are limited alternatives in town anyways. Easy walk to the restaurants in town and to the town's supermarket. There is a common kitchen if you want to bring your own food. A very pleasant and restful stay.

Good but let down by design

A very pleasant stay in a quiet town

This is a guest house that feels very much like a homestay. Breakfast is served in the host family's living/dining room, which felt a little like we were intruding. The rooms were clean and well-kept and the bathrooms were shared and in good condition. There's not much to explore in Stykkisholmur other than the port, which is a 15 minute walk away. This was reasonably priced and well located for our purposes, but nothing special.

Great for the one night we spent

Good hostel but cannot be considered guesthouse. Good dorms, kind family is managing it, nice breakfast. Close to the city centre and good view from the upper parts. If in the night there are some one partying in the common area, hard to sleep. Anyway fine and cheaper than the other costs
