Edda´s Farmhouse In Town

My wife, 10 year-old son, and I spent 5 nights total at Edda’s Farmhouse in Hafnarfjordur. Edda is such a gracious host and she went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Edda possesses a wealth of local information and she steered us in the direction of several worthwhile  sights that we likely would have missed otherwise. Our son particularly enjoyed the managerie of animals (rabbits, chickens, a cat, and a dog) found at this “farmhouse in town”. The place is cozy (not a problem for us) and the breakfasts were plentiful and quite good. Don’t miss the park (Hellisgerði) just two blocks away - beautiful. 

We were a bit “put off” by the broken fence and unkempt back yard, but were won over by Edda, her friendliness, fabulous breakfasts each day — full with home made breads and muffins, along with eggs, cheeses, meats, etc., and the clean accommodations! Staying In Hafnarfjordur for our week visit was a good idea as we got out of Reykjavik, saw and met some Icelanders (not just tourists like us), and sampled many of the excellent restaurants for dinner, yet it is close and convenient to the Reykjavik downtown and events. Highly recommended.

We had a very nice stay here.  Edda is really warm & friendly but let us have our space.  The bed was cozy and we slept well.  Enjoyed meeting the animals that live in the yard, and the breakfast was awesome.  Everything was clean and I would recommend this to anyone.

We spent two nights at Edda's on the end of our 3 week trip around Iceland and found we had the most fun here of all places.  We meet several new people from America coming and going to Europe and shared some great stories and wine and had a super breakfast in the mornings.  We spent much more at other locations without breakfast.  My mother had grown up just down the street and we were on a mission to find my roots and what a nice surprise to be able to stay two blocks away.  It is an easy drive from here to Reykjavik or Keflavik.

My mother and I recently spent three nights at Edda's Farmhouse in Town.  You can easily drive here in 15 minutes from the center of Reykjavik.  It might take a few extra minutes as there are many one way streets around her bed and breakfast (and Google Maps didn't seem to know that). This is a great location if you are flying out- closer to the international airport than downtown Reykjavik.
The rooms were very simple- absolutely perfect for us.  There was a sink and coffee maker in the guest room.  There is a shared bathroom for 3 guests rooms.  This was shared very easily between us and another family.
Edda's breakfast was wonderful:  it included coffee, tea and orange juice as well as two types of freshly baked breads.  There were several choices of cheeses and meats as well as hard boiled eggs and Icelandic yogurts and fresh fruit.  There was also a wonderful choice of jams.  
The animals do not come into the guest area, so if you are not an animal person it will not be a problem.  Spent a bit visiting with Nero, the dog, who is super sweet.
Enjoyable stay.
