The Resort at Palmetto Bay

We rented a house, Laru Beya, which was fantastic. The Palmetto Bay community is made up mostly of vacation homes with some full time residents. It is a gated and patrolled community, and we never felt unsafe. Area is away from touristy areas so a rental car was a must for our group. There are drivers and taxis available, but unless you schedule ahead of time you might have to wait awhile. The beach was nice and looked to be cleaned regularly. There is an onsite dive shop which was very accommodating and had outstanding service. Only downside was that the Sand Fleas/No-Seum's can be a bit voracious, so take or pickup locally good repellant.

Was exactly as described. Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. All staff very helpful and kind. Everything you would need is at resort. Had a great dive shop and boats. It was a lovely stay. Did not rent a car, the resort can arrange a drive to take you anywhere  you want to go, we only left resort on 1 day. Would definitely return.

This place is awesome. I feel like it’s weird people say that the security and that the people are mean, and not so friendly. I find this to not be true, as the people who work over Palmetto Bay seem to be nice throughout your time at the resort. The housing and where you stay also seems very nice and has proper, good water and bedding - as in the same time, you may have a neighbor who could be the owner. In my case, the owner was super nice and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, the stay was extremely nice.

DIVING-

The diving was pleasant, and very cool! The coral and fish life is amazing and not far from the dock, so it’s also great for sea-sickness. They also are extreme professionals, and will make sure that you are safe throughout your whole experience. 

If you have kids who are developing to dive, this is also an amazing dive experience for kids.  I have a 13 year old son who was already through 2 dives and needed to get fully-certified. I also have a 11 Year-Old daughter who also needed to get certified. The divers are extremely nice towards kids, and all of the instructors and people who work here, including security, seem to be nice and also know exactly what they are doing. 

A big thank you towards Mike, Sam, Amanda, The John’s, (One is a instructor and the other usually wears a Gucci cap), Gabi, and the people who help out with securing diving equipment. The shop is also extremely cool, and we saw lots of cool, and funny things! The high-quality swimwear and diving-wear/diving-gear is well branded, lots of quality, and overall just great for your diving journeys.

Overall on the whole trip, we appreciated the beautiful place and also appreciated the diving experience they gave us. Kids are very respected, and so are you. If you’re looking for a great dive trip, make sure to come here for the amazing trip, and take a look at the grill and the bar. Thank you for having us!

This was our family's second visit to Roatan and Palmetto Bay.  love it there. It's beach is never crowded, the view of the sea is mesmerizing, and the landscaping is full of palm trees and flowers. That's all I need from a vacation: the sound of the waves at night, a beach to walk along during the day. Our rentals gave me that both trips, and I have no doubt they will again. I like being away from the crowds that come with the cruise ships and big resorts. I come to Roatan to recharge, so I can get through the rest of our very long winter.  And we've brought our kids with us, who don't like to be as quiet as, and we haven't had much trouble getting around using taxis.  New Years Eve was the only time the cost was pretty high, but that's everywhere.  
My husband loves the dive shop at Palmetto Bay: the instructors and the boat crew are very friendly.  I haven't gotten certified yet, but I admire their patience in certifying my daughter, and I think I will do it this winter, since no one will go snorkeling with me now that they can dive. 
There was a bit of a management change this past year, and while everything ran smoothly as before, there were some definite differences in the restaurant (The Cove).  I'm hopeful that those were just growing pains and they'll sort themselves out, because the staff of the restaurant is wonderful, most having been there for some time, and the location is stunning. It was perfect for avoiding cruise ship crowds, and  getting great island food, something I'm sure they want to continue.  New Year's Eve offered  traditional Island dancers and drums, just like Christmas Eve the previous year, and I really enjoyed that again.  I haven't spent enough time learning about the Garifuna people who call the West Bay Islands home, and I hope to on our future trips. I made it to a wildlife park this year, which is further from the lovely beach than I made it the previous year.   What can I say? I'd be a very happy owner in this community (I just need a winning lottery ticket first).


We had a great family stay for the week.  The staff is excellent, we really appreciated Mauritza, Lissa, Amanda, Richard, Angelo, Sam, & Carlos.  The resort is well secured and close to the brewery which is a great spot.  Food and ambiance at the cove are great.   Our house was fantastic, and we enjoyed staying mid island away from traffic, yet close enough drives to local restaurants and attractions.

Great stay with our family and grandparents! We had the tropical garden house with its own pool. Clean, spacious, a/c for sleeping, great screened in outdoor space, minutes walk to the Cove restaurant and about a 5 minute walk to the Roatan Brewery! The dive shop squeezed us in for a snorkeling trip last minute. They were super accommodating!

Stayed here for week and had a great time! It's located in about the middle of the island and tucked away from all the touristy west end and mega resorts. But only a 20min drive to to check out west bay/west end. House was very nice, pics accurate.Grounds has great flora and fauna. Cove restaurant had great food and staff. Host Stephanie and the staff was great help. Definitely will return!

We just returned from visiting Honduras for the first time and it won’t be our last! Palmetto Bay was a hidden gem. Not only was our house Coconut Grove amazing but the staff of Palmetto Bay made our trip that much better. Stephanie took great care of us while we were there, she recommended lots of places to visit and was very accommodating. The staff of the Cove bar/restaurant were extremely friendly and made sure we had a great experience. Food and drinks were very reasonable and very delicious. Lots of options to choose from. We are already planning our next trip. **PS yes there are bugs (sand fleas and no seums) it was to be expected but we didn’t let it ruin our good time-bring bug spray **

A wonderful resort of Honduran style homes with a fanatic restaurant (The Cove), beautiful long, white sand, almost deserted beach, a great dive school and friendly bar. The management were responsive to our every need and our favorite thing to do was sway in the hammocks out on the dock under the stars.

5-STARS : Can not say enough about this place! The Grounds alone are Postcard Pretty! Truly what people dream about when they picture the perfect Carribean getaway. The Restaurant was clean, open air with gorgeous full views of the ocean. The Food was exquisite - Try the Potsticker / Dumplings!  The Drinks were wonderfully generous and refreshing .. And the Staff went above & beyond! Stephanie in particular went completely out of her way to make our 1st experience with Palmetto Bay one we will Never forget! We will be recommending this place to all!
